Did it tangle and you couldn't get the ponytail out or what? When you get frustrated, it's okay to sit down for a few minutes and calm down before working on your hair again. Was it the conditioner washing that didn't work for you? Some conditioners will really mess up my hair and make it difficult to comb. Go slowly and gently! I am not sure of the moons phase right now. I wish that was on my calendar. Too cloudy to even see the moon last night. I wouldn't expect a miracle from the vinegar though. You should probably shampoo (if it was the conditioner your hair didn't like) and then use the ACV rinse. The ACV will help smooth the hair but it can only do so much. | | | February 24th, 2004, 08:25 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 38 | | I am a hair retard, I guess... | | well...as I've ALWAYS had a boy haircut until this last 5 years of growing...I have never HAD to watch what I did with my hair...and when I say short...I mean Marine corps shaved in the back with about an inch in the top/front...that was 5 years ago...now I am below my bra-strap hoping for waist length (hopefully not "wet dreaming") So...I did the CO wash only yesterday with VO5 clarifying conditioner in Kiwi and sumthing else....hair was GREAT yesterday (I was CROWING about it, right?) and this am.....I tried to take my hair out of the CLOTH scrunchie and I'll be damned if my hair was wrapped a million (ok..not a million..but it SEEMED that way) times around the scrunchie....as I am in a pissy mood....I RIPPED the scrunchie out...anyhow.....I have created the "mixture"....3 tablespoons white distilled vinegar and distilled H2O...I be going into the shower now...will try a wash first...then condition (non-cones) and then rinse it and put a spray-on afterwards....wish me luck! | | | February 24th, 2004, 08:49 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 38 | ok...looks like, so far, this vinegar rinse may work......I washed my nasty ol' hair with Giovanni's Tea Tree shampoo...I washed the scalp twice...the 2nd time going through my length...then I gobbed on the cheap kiwi and lime clarifying VO5 conditioner...then, becasue I CANNOT go without the "slip"...put ONLY ON THE VERY ENDS the Matrix Smooth conditioner..then rinsed in the vinegar...because of the "slip" issue...I HAD to put a SMALL amount of the 'cone Matrix on the ENDs of my hair...man....I didn't see all the fly-aways in my hair like I normally do RIGHT out of the shower (15 years of coloring HAS to be pretty bad....) I wet bun and because I am wearing Nag Champa oil...cannot smell the vinegar..... we'll se how it is dry..... | | | February 24th, 2004, 09:47 AM | #6 | | Administrator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Idaho-ho-ho Age: 49 Posts: 10,168 Length: 4"/39.9"/40+"? Type: 2a/F/ii | Just FYI, the vinegar smell dissapates as the hair dries, so the oil wouldn't be necessary, IF you do it again and feel brave. Sure, you smell like a Massengill factory til the hair's about 2/3 of the way dry, but then it goes away. Same thing goes for clothes, if you use vinegar in lieu of fabric softener (really nice for towels and cloth diapers; 1 c vinegar in the rinse-cycle softens and removes static without decreasing absorbency like Fabric Softener can) The laundry will smell vinegar-y while wet, but not when dry. I've had times when my hair gets really tangly, too. I have to just work gently (hard to do when you're TICKED) and get the snarls out, then I usually will do a nice clarifying shampoo (all the way to the ends) and then condition it. And if it's REALLY bad, I break out the cones and go for it. Those cones really add some slip. It may be that your hair has reached a length now that it needs to be MORE confined than just a pony? Maybe you are at a point where you may need to think about braiding or high-bunning (atop your head, a loose bun that keeps it from being laid-on) and a slick pillowcase? Mine was about BS length when I passed that threshold and had to begin really confining it during sleep. I braided for awhile, but then I find that I lay on the braid and the tassel looked ratty and.....well, now I throw it on top of my head in a loose-ish bun and secure it with two or three small claw-clips. Securing it that way spreads out any "pull" on my head from the weight of my meager bun. Another product that you may like (and I use as a followup for COwashing) is Mastey's FreHair creme rinse. I love that stuff. No waxes, no oils, no cones, it's VERY light, but it's a miracle in a bottle. Smooths and removes static, and increases slip. GREAT stuff! | | | February 24th, 2004, 12:10 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 38 | hey LisaJ Idaho is a nice state...livedin SLC, UT for 10 years before coming to Chicago..... Where to you get the Masteys? I am there, I thin...I tried braiding too...but I got a million, billion fly-aways in the braid and was told braiding and sleep was bad, bad.....so...I use a VERY lose bu at the nape of my neck...thus my problemo this am....my hair ROCKS, by the way....after the vinegar...though there are still fly aways (the ONLY way I keep myself from shearing myself is the logic of the fly-aways...they go ALL the way to the top of my HEAD and I figure it is nicer to have long hair and be unique then to have short hair and STILL have fly-aways and be average..... but maybe I'm a "hair-snob" as my hubby puts it..... | | | February 24th, 2004, 12:19 PM | #8 | | Administrator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Idaho-ho-ho Age: 49 Posts: 10,168 Length: 4"/39.9"/40+"? Type: 2a/F/ii | OK, you hair snob....... bwahahahahaha! I got mine from a beauty-supply store. Ed Wyse carries it in Spokane I know. Um..... I also got it for aWHILE at Fred Meyers, but then they quit carrying it. They've been carrying the "fancy designer/salon" brands now for a while. I called and asked about Mastey there (on the off-chance they'd have it) and they didn't, but about a month later, THERE IT WAS! But it was only there for a month. The last time I got it, I got about a quart of it for about $8, which is a STEAL. The quart is usually $Twenty-something I think. Call around some of your local beauty supply houses and the salons themselves. If you have a friend who is a beautician, they can get it at reduced price (I got my first bottle that way). Yeah, the braid is heck on my hair, too, that's why I abandoned it. One night I took my hair, divided it into two sections (rightside and leftside) and wrapped them around my head, securing them with really SMOOOOTH bobbypins, then slept like that. It was okay. Nothing to write home about, though. | | | February 24th, 2004, 12:58 PM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 38 | Again, thanks.....it's kinda nice to have someone laugh with/at-in-a-loving-way me...and STILL make me feel GOOD.....aren't I the hair 'tard though....never used vinegar..and after doing so...the hair feels liek I almost don't HAVE any......I must have had 100 years of build-up in my hair, ya'll...... Off topic, I know...but do any of ya'll get the "pity party blues" so bad that you snot up the place crying and boobing about ones crappy (fill-in-the-blank) Been doing it all evening....feel better though.....to match the hair.....and my alcoholic momma used to say..."Crying is good for zits...." | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
