I'm debating between this and clear henna...to use henna, does my hair have to be completely free of all hair dyes? I just had my hair lowlighted in September, so if that's the case, I suppose I can't use henna. Thanks for any replies! | | | November 10th, 2003, 12:42 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Oklahoma Age: 51 Posts: 1,078 Type: 1a/1b/F/ii | I don't know about that product, Buffy, I'd be interested in seeing the ingredients. You'd be okay using henna over chemical coloring, you just can't go back to coloring from henna due to the metals. Henna has always dried my hair out, but I think I'm just about the only one that happens to! __________________ Deb | | | November 10th, 2003, 02:14 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: In beautiful Tennessee Posts: 827 Length: 16/???/??? Type: 1b/F/ii | I used Loreal's version of this (purchased at Sally's) and it did give gloss (temporarily), but it added a little brassiness (permanently) to my hair. I also think it caused my ends to have a little extra "crunch." If you have dark hair, the brassiness may not be an issue. I guess, all said, I'd have to give it a "thumbs down" review. Hope that helps! This won't be a problem if you use the clear shade, but I did want to mention it in case you were tempted to try one of their colours. I've used henna over semi-permanent dye without any weird reactions, but you should always do a strand test first. As long as you're going to Sally's, you might want to check out Ardell Lights & Brights. They make a clear gloss like the Clairol stuff, but it's much cheaper and comes already pre-mixed in a single packet. bunniee | | | November 11th, 2003, 09:40 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Pacific Northwest Posts: 2,188 Type: 1a/1b/F/ii | I know nothing about henna or this product (so why is she chiming in? - an Aries), but want to add that Goldlady is not the only one who's found henna to be drying - I've read that over and over on the boards. | | | November 11th, 2003, 12:49 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Buffalo, NY Age: 32 Posts: 664 Type: 1a/F/M/ii | the last time i hennaed my hair, it cam out very soft, silky, and shiny. Everytime before that, my hair had that protein overkill dry feeling. the differences: henna brand: now light mountain instead of rainbow pre-treat: now only a vinegar rinse to rinse my leave-in out. before: shampoo and vinegar rinse. henna mixture additives: only hot water, a little vinegar, a spoonful of nutmeg. before: varied. eggs, yogurt, oil, conditioner (always at least one of these were present). __________________ _______________________________________ Generic Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo Generic Sebastian Potion 9 or BWC Leave-In | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
