The best one I've encountered yet is for children -- No More Tangles by Johnson & Johnson. I'm not even sure they make it anymore, but it was good all those years ago when I was a kid. Are you trying to detangle wet hair or dry hair? I used to spend lots of time & effort combing tangles out of my wet hair, only to realize that if I let it dry without detangling it, it was a LOT easier to detangle dry. Perhaps that would help? __________________ | | | November 9th, 2003, 05:59 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 2,015 Type: 2b/F/M/ii | Have you tried diluting conditioner in a spray bottle? I use a 50/50 mix of distilled water and conditioner, plus oils and panthenol. You might try using just distilled water and conditioner for a basic detangling spray, and see how that works. On another note, please consider writing out words in full when you post a message, rather than using abbreviations and text message slang. People are more likely to respond if they can easily decipher your post and not have to 'translate' it into proper English. bunniee | | | November 9th, 2003, 06:15 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Hill Country, Central TX Age: 54 Posts: 4,017 Length: 39"/55"/??? There have been a few times (like when I was sick as a dog) when I have fallen asleep with wet untangled hair, and woken up with dreadful dreadlocks. I'll bet you are able to put your fingers in your hair from underneath and comb all the way to the ends without causing tangles too. ::sigh:: I am so jealous. I know we are supposed to embrace and love our hairtypes, but I don't think I'll ever stop pining for silky, straight hair. It doesn't help that my sister called me and said she recently had her hair thermally reconditioned and loves it. balleryna, the way I battle tangles is to get them in the shower, I don't even try to get bad tangles out of dry hair. I use several handfuls of a very thin slippery conditioner on the length (White Rain Extra Body is the best I've found) and fingercomb then shower rake. I put mine in a wet braid to prevent tangles, but you may not want to wear your hair in a braid all the time... | | | November 9th, 2003, 06:32 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Pacific Northwest Posts: 2,188 Type: 1a/1b/F/ii | Do you use cones? I used No More Tangles too, and it was the BEST! I don't know if they make it anymore either, but I want to find out. It made detangling my tender head easy as a kid. Yeah, look here! http://www.medshopexpress.com/personal-care-hair-care-johnson-s.html The bottle is different, but it's the same product... I wonder if the formula has changed? And what a time warp... No More Tears shampoo too! I think I might get a bottle just to feel like a kid again. __________________ "For we are what we believe ourselves to be. I made one with Mega Moisture (1.5 teaspoons) and 8 oz water, and it works great. Kenra's spray leave-in has worked well for me, too. It used to be absolutely awful -- 20 minutes or more to untangle just to the point of looking presentable -- but now it's much quicker. I'm not sure what caused the change, but I have noticed that if I'm wearing my hair down, the tangles are far less abundant than if I wear a ponytail. I suppose being in a ponytail causes the hair to rub against the back of my neck too much? __________________ | | | November 9th, 2003, 12:43 PM | #11 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Oklahoma Age: 51 Posts: 1,078 Type: 1a/1b/F/ii | The only detangler I've used that worked great, wasn't a leave in. It's Redkens All Soft Addictive Hair Transformer. You use it after conditioning. Just spray it on and rinse off. It uses nano-emulsion to infuse oils into your hair. It leaves my hair totally tangle free for days and shiny, shiny, shiny. __________________ Deb | | | November 9th, 2003, 01:12 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Pacific Northwest Posts: 2,188 Type: 1a/1b/F/ii | Ooh, Goldlady, that sounds so intriguing! Where do you get it? Balleryna, I just picked up California Baby detangler today. It's almost time to wash, so I'll have to test drive it a while before giving a verdict. But the company is notoriously good and the ingredients pure. Plant waxes are the first ingredient - no cones. I hope your hair care proves a wonderful focus for you! | | | November 9th, 2003, 01:21 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: A pink house dripping gingerbread Posts: 100 | | Thanks everyone and axium? | | Thank you very much everyone. axium do let me know how your test drive works out. im curious. my hair is my focus at the moment. i really want to keep it. thanks for that too. __________________ Balleryna~* Ears~BSL~Waist 2c3bcFiii/Springs Rings & Coils Chestnut/Auburn-Golden Highlights Product Line: Longhairs MY JOURNAL: Fairy Tales ~ My Story | | | November 10th, 2003, 05:14 AM | #14 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Hill Country, Central TX Age: 54 Posts: 4,017 Length: 39"/55"/???
