I just noticed while having a bubble bath the other day that my hair is now so long (yay!) that it's actually IN the water. I hadn't noticed before. I can't figure out any way to keep it out of the water, but still be able to lay my head back. A bun gets in the way and a towel is too bulky. I don't want to stuff it in a shower cap since it will get tangly. Is there anything I can use so I don't keep dipping my hair in my bubbles =) | | | April 29th, 2007, 02:39 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Bremen - Germany Age: 25 Posts: 131 Length: jaw/hip/class Type: 1a/F/M/ii/iii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | How about a bun on the very top of your head? | | | April 29th, 2007, 03:15 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: North-East USA Posts: 592 Length: 13 in/28.25/31 in Type: 2a/M/ii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | twist and clip in a longish plastic claw? When I bath with dry hair, I also do a quick scrunchie beebutt bun __________________ 2007: year of the thesis... hopefully! I just bun it at the top of my head, like Igraine said. | | | April 29th, 2007, 04:01 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Continental Europe Age: 30 Posts: 266 Type: 1c/2a/M/iii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | Yup that's what I'd do too. For occasions where you want your hair up, but not at the back of your head, that's the solution. I sometimes do the "top of head" bun when I'm watching tv, leaning back with my head against the couch. It sorta reminds me of Pebbles (from the Flintstones) just add a bone-shaped hairstick __________________ | | | April 29th, 2007, 04:58 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jun 2005 Age: 28 Posts: 81 Length: 25/29/? The top of the head bun works quite nicely too, though. | | | April 29th, 2007, 05:05 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Puget Sound, Washington Age: 59 Posts: 4,252 Length: 24.5/waist/clasc Type: 2c/M/iii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | Soak in the tub, then wash your hair. If you aren't washing your hair, scrunchie-bun it high and roll a washcloth or hand towel to cushion the back of your neck. And congratulations on having hair long enough to hang in the water - another fine milestone. __________________ April 30, 2007 | | | April 29th, 2007, 05:09 PM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Lake Bonneville Age: 26 Posts: 531 Length: 16"/25.5"/30" Type: 2a/F/ii/iii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | The closest thing I could find to the bone-shaped hair stick were a bone-shaped hair tie, bone-shaped hair clips, and various bone-shaped pens (PLUS this place which is GORGEOUS! don't click if you have your credit card nearby ) | | | April 29th, 2007, 06:06 PM | #9 | | Long Hair Admirer Join Date: Apr 2007 Age: 31 Posts: 14 Type: 1c/2a/F/ii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | I normally braid mine then wrap it around my head in a sort of headband/fairytale gal/princess leia - style. I secure this with whatever hair toy works and is easy to grab at the time. It works :p | | | April 29th, 2007, 06:31 PM | #10 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Near Detroit, Michigan Age: 37 Posts: 3,915 Length: 3/36+/36-40 Type: 2a/2b/F/M/ii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | I usually sit with the conditioner on my hair for about 20 minutes when I do CO wash. When I first started I would take my hair in a low ponytail and bring the tail up and lay it on my head in a horseshoe or U shape with the curve of the U near my forehead. Then with it laying by itself I would take a plastic shopping bag and put it on so that the handles were by my forehead. I then twist the handles together and then using a claw clip I clamp the handles to the tail that's under the bag. I don't squish the U together. I just clip the handles to one side of the U. After a while of doing that I received a shower cap in a swap so now after I put the bag on and clip it I put the shower cap on over it. But you don't need the cap. Just make sure the shopping bag is big enough so that it's not too tight. Then when you're done you can throw the bag out or recycle it or whatever you usually do with them. __________________ This is before and after April 4th, 2007 Trim. For longer hair, you could turn this into two buns. ETA: higher pigtails, not low ones. __________________ Updated tickers taking into account slow growth: | | | April 29th, 2007, 07:31 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: In the tall pines in Arizona Age: 48 Posts: 2,724 Length: 13/27.75/30 Type: 2a/M/ii | | Re: Bathing and long hair | | A turbie twist works nicely. I don't have a tub, but I use one to keep my hair up when I shower and don't want to wash my hair. __________________ ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Veni, Vidi, Velcro. That's how I discovered buns are so amazingly comfortable You can try a lot of diferent buns, I'm sure you'll find something | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
