I bought a nice bottle of EO last night called "Ivory Lace" to add in to the serum I occasionally use for my hair. Just a few drops usually isn't a problem, while a thorough oiling is a guaranteed disaster for my hair. Usually I use jasmine EO in with the silicone serum, and I get NO color on my fingers from henna or indigo at all. No color loss, no "squeakiness" from the serum at all. Just softer hair. Well, with this stuff, I could feel my hair going "squeaky" just from the few EO drops and then I looked down and saw blue on the backs of my knuckles. Rats. It smells really nice, too ... Both this stuff and the Lily of the Valley are unusable. The Egyptian musk and the jasmine are fine, thankfully, since those are my faves. Wah. | | | March 3rd, 2007, 08:48 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Maine Age: 35 Posts: 70 Length: 21"/31"/class Type: 2c/C/iii | I'm sorry. Were you able to get the blue off your fingers? I'm debating on whether or not to get eo's to add to my evoo/castor mix. So far this is working well, tho. | | | March 3rd, 2007, 08:52 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2004 Location: California Posts: 1,796 Length: 35/45/term Type: 2c/3a/C/iii | Quote: | Originally Posted by chainedangel I'm sorry. I'm just bummed. I think I'll just stick with the serum+jasmine combination from now on. | | | March 3rd, 2007, 10:34 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Maine Age: 35 Posts: 70 Length: 21"/31"/class Type: 2c/C/iii | Maybe see if there's something else you could use that particular oil for? That way you won't have "under sink product buildup". Who knows? | | | March 3rd, 2007, 10:41 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Staten Island, NY Age: 29 Posts: 165 Length: chin/armpt/waist Type: 1c/M/ii/iii | Are you sure it's an essential oil, not a fragrance oil? Fragrance oils don't always work as well as true EOs do. Can you still use it as a perfume? A lot of EOs do terrible things to my hair, but work just fine on my skin. | | | March 3rd, 2007, 07:25 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2005 Location: The Queen City Age: 49 Posts: 2,006 Length: 47 cm/62 cm/80 cm Type: 3a/M/ii | I agree, probably an FO. "Ivory Lace" doesn't sound like the name of any plant I recognize. I know two blue EOs: Australian blue cypress and German chamomile. I don't think either is strong enough to stain your knuckles. | | | March 3rd, 2007, 07:33 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2004 Location: California Posts: 1,796 Length: 35/45/term Type: 2c/3a/C/iii | At this point, I'm just hoping that when I wash this junk out, I don't take half the blue with it. I'm still getting some blueness off on my fingers when I run my hands through it, and it's been two weeks with not a single instance of rubbing-off until I used that damned oil. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
