I am a natural dark blonde with natural golden highlights. However, I am growing out bleached and dyed hair I started growing out my hair October 2002, with about an inch of hair around. However, at the time I only planned of growing it to about mid-back length, so I screwed it up. I dyed, bleached, blowdryed, etc not realizing that it was incredibly damaging to my hair. Then when my hair was past my ears I decided to stop my bad habits, dyed my hair for the final time (black), and started treating my hair nicely. I measured my hair from hairline to ends 15.25 on October 1/03. My hair grows fast (around 3/4 inches) a month. Sometimes I get slower growth and sometimes faster. At the present time I would say my hair is halfway between the bottom of my lip and chin when dry. When it is wet, it is past my chin. When I strech it, it reaches past my chin. My haircolor has also faded since I dyed it black and it is now light brown. The following are some hair goals I have set for my self. Goals: Shoulder Length: 17" (achieved!) Midback/BSL: 25" Waist: 31" Tailbone- 41.5" Classic: 47" Mid-Thigh: 51.5" I have a long road ahead but I am very excited. __________________ 1cFiii Last edited by grant : March 15th, 2004 at 08:15 PM. | | | October 19th, 2003, 11:07 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | I'm thinking of decreasing the amount of times I shampoo per week. My hair gets quite oily quickly, so I shampoo twice a week. I use c/o on the rest of the days with my dove conditioner for dry/damaged hair. I think that the dove conditioner is too thick of a conditioner for c/o. I will probably not use dove again. The ends of my hair are starting to get a bit dry so I will only shampoo once a week, on Saturdays. My hair is getting so tangled today. I'll right more tommorow hopefully. I am going to go c/o. __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 22nd, 2003, 02:35 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | | aveda and incorrect measuring | | Today I went to the mall and they had an aveda store so I went in there since I have heard numerous positive comments on their conditioners. I wasn't sure exactly what to get. So I got the lady to reccomend conditioners for me. I got the rosemary mint conditioner (minty!! ) and the leave in conditione (elixir). I am not sure I like the smells but they made my hair feel quite nice and healthy. My hair is still drying and it feels a bit sticky __________________ 1cFiii Last edited by grant : March 15th, 2004 at 08:16 PM. | | | October 23rd, 2003, 03:54 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Yay! My hair feels so soft and silky! I love the new aveda conditioners. When my hair dried last night it felt really soft. I woke up in the morning and it was sooo soft. Then I used the aveda conditioners this morning and my hair feels even more soft . My hair is grown I can tell. Everyday I strech it past my chin and use my hand to measure how far down it is. On the first my hair barely reached the bottom of my chin, and now it is far past my chin yay! This is weird... My hair was sooo oily two days ago. Then when I got my new aveda conditioners my hair and c/o it felt freshly washed. I could probably last another week at least. I'm going to start washing once a week, on Saturday's, and get rid of my Wednesday wash. My hair looks so much longer when its wet than when its dry. Its like mid-neck (well at least the sides) and the bangs are quite past my chin when it is wet. Then it dries and the bangs dont even reach my chin and the sides are about chin length but not exactly. __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 25th, 2003, 04:58 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Today was saturday so it means that I went without shampooing my hair for a week so it was time to shampoo. I first washed once, rinsed, and then washed again. I followed up with Rosemary mint conditioner, and then used Aussie 3 minute miracle. Hair feels soft but is a bit frizzy oh well that will go away once I sleep on it, lol. I am excited to measure but I must force myself to wait for another week. Lol. That seems so far away. Oh well... The sides of my hair almost reach chin length when dry... YAY! __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 27th, 2003, 03:03 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Right now, my hair is Chin Length when dry and when it is wet it is mid-neck. Yesterday night I found my old deep conditioner from one of my OLD hair dye kits. It's so weird, the hair dye ruins your hair then the deep conditioner is the best! wet my hair in the sink, and then put the deep conditioner in my hair. I left it on for a little longer than an hour (wanted to do 2 but hair looks bad if I sleep on it wet ). So then I rinsed it out in the shower, then I applied some elixir leave in by Aveda. I waited for it to dry and then slept on it. Woke up in the morning, hair was incredibly soft! I'm probably going to do this again on wednesday but for 2-3 hours . Today I used Aveda's Rosemary Mint and then followed up with elixir. Hair feels good so far but it isn't dry yet. There is only one part of my hair that feels bad. The back part of my hair does a little flip, and it feels really bad Almost all extra short hair does that. I'm not sure what length you get to when it goes normal. Anyway, that's enough about my hair I'll try to write more 2morro if I have time. __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 28th, 2003, 04:45 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | At the length my hair is now (just a little past chin length) i expected that the flips would be gone, but they are still there! I'm so mad! Well the flips have calmed down a bit but they still stick out. Apparently it will be like this until my hair gains enough weight to stop sticking out. Anyway I am going to the salon on thursday to get something done about the awful flips (IM NOT CUTTING THEM DONT WORRY) lol. I am just trying to find a product that will make them go flat. Anyways... I was at my grandparents the other week and my grandma started going on about my hair and how she hated it. Shes like "oh i liked it before you started to grow it," and "now it looks messy. I can cut it for you if you like" well I sed that it was ok and that I was growing my hair at least to my knees. I said that I was not going to change my mind and cut it so she better give up . Well she has stopped bothering me about my hair __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 29th, 2003, 12:39 PM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Today I measured yay! My hair is now 16" from hairline to ends! I measured my bangs too. They are 9". Yay my growth rate used to be .5"/month but the average for me is now .75" I did my usual c/o routine... my hair is sooo puffy at the sides 2day lol. I have been wearing it in different styles today to help it lay flat. It works for a while but then if I brush it, it goes poofy again lol I'm going into the salon 2morro around noon... I'm getting my hair straightened with something  Its just going to be wash out/temp but the hair dressers are always so ruff on my hair Anyway I always walk out of their with silky, soft hair its kind of weird. They must have the best products! lol! __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 30th, 2003, 04:29 PM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | I went to the salon today. The lady blowdryed then used an incredibly hot flatiron  She was so ruff on my hair that I think sum of it started to break off Oh well it has recovered. I went home and washed it out and conditioned the hell out of it and it went back to normal Then I conditioned a few hours ago and have put my hair in a bun. It is still in the bun... Well... I dont think that I will be going back to the salon for a long time now. The hair looked nice and shiny but I was getting a lot more fallout, so I dont think it is worth it. Anyways.. On the good side of things, I measured my ponytail circumference, and I got 5" According to the hair typing system, that is very thick. Well, I already knew that my hair was quite thick, but now it is for sure.. Yay! lol __________________ 1cFiii | | | October 31st, 2003, 06:14 PM | #10 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Yesterday I slept on my damp bun. I woke up in the morning and my hair felt quite nice and looked nice as well. It was in better condition than the day before. About an hour or so ago I c/o and then tied my hair up into a bun. The bun is still wet and I will sleep on it. I like doing the bun because it gets the hair out of my face Tomorrow is wash day so I will try something new 2morro night. I think that I will try one of those vinegar rinses because I read that it makes hair shiny and soft __________________ 1cFiii | | | November 1st, 2003, 03:04 PM | #11 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Today was a wash day so I tried a few new things. First off, I tried CWC. I conditioned with rosemary mint by Aveda, washed with Garnier (my hair loves that shampoo ) and then finished off with 3 minute Miracle by Aussie which I left on for two hours with a plastic bag wrapped around my head. After I rinsed the deep conditioner, I finished off the whole thing with a vinegar rinse and then put some leave-in conditioner on. I left my hair to dry and did not put it in a bun to dry. My hair is shiny, silky, and soft today. The flips are quite smaller than usual, which is a plus. I think that the flips are nearing their death yay! lol. Anyway, I like this routine and hope to do it every Saturday, but the bad thing is that it took a long time! Lol. I am not too happy with my deep conditioner, it does not seem to condition as well as I would like it to. I am so happy with my hair today It's weird, but this is going to be the first time in a long time that I sleep on dry hair.. __________________ 1cFiii | | | November 2nd, 2003, 04:42 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Well, the flips are not too bad today. I think that they are slowly disappearing. I am going to try to find a way to make them less noticiable. C/O today, hair feels nice today. I might start doing two rinses in the shower with c/o, but I am not sure I will do this. I might try it tomorrow if I have time. __________________ 1cFiii | | | November 3rd, 2003, 12:33 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | My hair feels really nice 2day I am so happy with it! But I'm not completely sure what it will feel like when its dry because it is still damp. I c/o starting with 3 minute miracle, waited for 3-4 minutes then rinsed. I then put rosemary mint on and left it for around 4 minutes then rinsed. Hair felt very silky! I then followed up with elixir, and then used some frizz controller which makes hair less frizzy and shines (no it doesn't damage). I think that when I do this tomorrow I will start by wetting hair in the sink, putting the first conditioner on, wait for around 20 minutes or so then (while getting ready for the day) then rinse in the shower and follow up with rosemary mint, and leave that on for 5 minutes then rinse. Oh, and I added some new progress pictures to my website... My hair is about bottom of neck now when its wet http://www.geocities.com/kneelengthhair __________________ 1cFiii | | | November 4th, 2003, 03:48 PM | #14 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | My hair felt really soft and silky today but then when I did a two step c/o, It still felt really silky and soft, but Ive got flips Aw it would have looked so nice if the flips were gone. Anyway hopefully it will look better 2morro My C/O routine today was as follows: 1. rinse hair in sink 2. apply dove conditioner 3. leave on for 30 minutes 4. rinse out hair in shower 5. apply rosemary mint 6. wait for 5 minutes 7. rinse 8. apply elixir (leave-in) 9. add some frizz controller + shine product 10. wait to dry __________________ 1cFiii | | | November 5th, 2003, 05:05 PM | #15 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 89 | Ok, so today I woke up at noon  I'm serious! lol. I slept thru my alarm and I was so tired that I couldnt wake up. I am soo tired right now even though its so early still... Anyway on to hair. My hair was great today It was soft and silky. However, there was a bit of frizz on some of the very ends of the back oh well. Anyway 2night I had to push myself to get up (i was lying down cuz i'm so tired) and I did my 2 step c/o again. I think I am going to stick with this 2 step thing. I left dove conditioner on for like 40 minutes, rinsed, rosemary mint conditioner, rinsed, elixir, and then sum serum. My hair isn't dry yet but it feels nice even tho it's wet. I have my hair in a ponytail, so I can't really feel it, except for the couple of inches at the back that is too short to fit in the ponytail. That part is dry, and its really soft and silky Yay! My Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner samples arrived! I'm going to use them for CWC well except for the last C :p __________________ 1cFiii | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
