I'm kind of scared for my hair.. =/

I used to be a huge hair dye addict, and would bleach my hair almost once a month, and at the time because of the bad shape I liked (imagine that, someone like they're fried hair) I didn't take notice to anything that was looking too bad.

However - I made a silly mistake and thinking that I wanted bright hair colors again, when really I didn't want them and went out on a whim. I forgot that underneath the box brown was a spot I had bleached over four times. I bleached it AGAIN, and you can imagine the kind of problems that arised.

Only - it's in this ONE spot at the front of my hair. My hair is side parted almost all the time and it's on my right side which is the side it's parted to so I don't REALLY notice it all that much except for the fact that it keeps falling out/breaking off. It's about an inch and a half wide and I'm kind of fearing what's going to happen in the long run.

I know there isn't much advice for this - obviously it can't be fixed but I just wanted to post my sadness and regret over dyeing my hair.

(I wouldn't feel so bad if this kind of breakage/falling out was happening all over because then I know I would just be screwed and I'd cut it all off to start fresh but it's just this ONE part that just so happens to be dyed red on stark black so I have to keep looking at it and obsessing over it =( )

My Lots and lots of moisture, lots of tender care, and no more dye for a while.

First I think you should stop bleaching your hair and second you should really keep it moisturized. Just be very gently with your hair. It will grow.

Re: I'm kind of scared for my hair.. =/

Obviously I won't be bleaching or dyeing it for a long time in fear of doing more damage. I'm going to wait until I get it back to a decent state of health before changing it to a natural color because I need employment and I'm certainly not going to get it with red and green hair.

Thanks for the support, though.

Re: I'm kind of scared for my hair.. =/

You may not want to use more chemicals on your hair but if you don't mind so much look for Wella Perfect Hair. I'm from the UK and you can mostly only get it in professional salons but there are quite a few websites you can order it from and of course there's Ebay!

I had the same problem as you a few years ago, I bleached a section of my hair that had been died black so that I could get a bright red colour to show up bright but that section of hair turned into straw and was is such terrible condition I swore off bleach for life! However using Perfect Hair really helped. It is a leave in conditioner that seems to help build the damaged hair back up and keeps it nice & moisturised.

Other than that my only advice is to be really gentle with that section of your hair, use loads of conditioning treatments and no more bleach!

Good Luck!

Re: I'm kind of scared for my hair.. =/

Buy a huge tub of coconut oil and slather slather slather! Goop it on a and let it sit, then after you clean it, put on a dab and keep it pulled up to protect it.

It will get better - lots of hugs!
