I've tried various brands of ouchless elastics but none will keep my ponytail looking neat. Clips work sometimes, but I have a neck problem and frequenly rest my head on the back of my chair and they're too bumpy and pokey for that. My hair is WO, straight as a bone and very fine. | | | October 19th, 2006, 03:56 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Ontario, Canada Age: 49 Posts: 2,597 Length: 22.75/28"/36" Type: 1a/F/ii | | Re: Elastics that hold well on fine/straight hair | | Hey, we're hair twins! I use Goody brand coated elastics, without metal. They hold even my braided pigtails all day or overnight. The secret is just making sure that I wrap the elastics around enough times, far more than the average person. I've never had a problem with them and they've never caused breakage on me. __________________ Franny April 1, 2007--Click “It doesn't matter how long my hair is or what colour my skin is or whether I'm a woman or a man.”--John Lennon | | | October 19th, 2006, 04:58 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: On the edge of Appalachia Age: 32 Posts: 1,569 Length: 16.5/21.5/32ish Type: 2a/F/iii | | Re: Elastics that hold well on fine/straight hair | | Goody makes a sport elastic, I think it is called something like 'Stay Put.' They are metal free elastics with some kind of rubber tread on them. Anyway, I use these when I do braids in the pool, and they stick through my workout, even when they get in the water. They almost hold too well for me. I have to be careful when I take them out. | | | October 19th, 2006, 05:07 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2006 Location: Vancouver, British Columbia Age: 34 Posts: 161 Length: pixie/22"/Waist Type: 1a/F/ii | | Re: Elastics that hold well on fine/straight hair | | Thanks for the suggestions girls, I will try those | | | October 19th, 2006, 06:16 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: California Age: 28 Posts: 197 Length: 25/28/?? I don't have the fine hair problem, but those suckers hold up my hair through 45min elliptical sessions w/o needing any readjustment. You do have to be a little careful how you take them out though, if you're careless with them they can take a few strands with them on the way out. | | | October 19th, 2006, 06:28 AM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2006 Age: 31 Posts: 237 Length: 28.5/31.5/48 Type: 1b/M/iii | | Re: Elastics that hold well on fine/straight hair | | third the stayput. Love it. I do worry it'll cause damage. Glad to know others use them. They're absolutely the only things that will hold my hair up for more than an hour. | | | October 19th, 2006, 07:18 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Canuck in Silicon Valley Age: 38 Posts: 3,101 Length: pixie/29ish/40 Type: 2a/2b/M/iii | | Re: Elastics that hold well on fine/straight hair | | stayputs are the bomb. I find that they're difficult to get out though, since they really do stay put. I prefer the hosiery elastics though. They're the best in my slick hair. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
