My concept is to use various cultures' representation of the lion as a way to show different cultural views of the same theme. I had originally planned to use Greek, Chinese, and Indian representations of lions, and the curator suggested that I might want to include the Lion of Judah in my group. (Makes sense, of course.) My problem is this. The other cultures show a distinct, consistant style in their representations, but searching for Lion of Judah shows hundreds of possibilities, all different. I am not a particularly good religious historian, so I am not sure if there is a traditional way to represent the Lion of Judah, (sort of like a symbol) or if it is simply a concept that everyone expresses differently. If anyone knows of a definate, established, traditional way to represent the Lion of Judah, that would be wonderful. Likewise, if the Lion of Judah is just a concept with no traditional symbolic way to represent it, let me know. Finally, if this post makes no sense at all to you, it's probably because I am low on sleep and high on caffeine. Let me know and I will try and clarify. Thanks in advance! | | | September 20th, 2006, 07:14 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: State of Illusion Age: 47 Posts: 1,589 Length: 17/28.50/32 Type: 3a/F/M/ii/iii | here is a place to start. You know, part of the rules about asking us these questions is that now you'll HAVE to show us pictures when you're done. :-) __________________ Shower Routine: CO and occassional CWC with Nature's Gate and V05 Treatments: Frequent SMTs with Burt's Bee's Avacado Butter added. Don't worry, I'm over my insecure high school phase and quite willing to post pictures all day if I have a captive audience. [shameless narcissism] I have pictures of my current sculptural work in progess on the last page of my journal. [/shameless narcissism] There will definately be pictures by late October when the project is finished. | | | September 20th, 2006, 08:40 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Illinois Age: 54 Posts: 1,149 Length: 27/41/45 Type: 1b/M/ii | This is not what you are looking for, but I thought it was cool - A Lion of Judah Daylily: Photo Tea Lady __________________ Tea Lady's Longhair Journal Si vivimus spiritu spiritu et ambulemus - If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. They really fit their name - I didn't think flowers could look regal. And I love that deep velvet red color. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
