I took my three kids grocery shopping today. As I was putting my daughter in the cart someone beside me was trying to get a cart out. Out of the corner of my eye I saw very long, shiny brown hair so I very loudly said, "Boys, please move so this lady can get her cart out." The woman sheepishly pulled out the cart, then turned slightly. I just about died when I saw a very masculine build and full beard!! I was so mortified that I didn't even apologise. I wish I'd a least told him how nice his hair was! __________________ The roots come marching inch by inch hoorah! Hoorah! That is too horrible and embarrassing for words to describe! I have to admit that maybe a compliment would have helped the situation. | | | September 16th, 2006, 02:48 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: at the Oh! Lord knows when Hubbs had longer hair we would sometimes hear it. | | | September 16th, 2006, 02:54 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: California Age: 28 Posts: 683 Length: ??/44.5"/60" Type: 2c/3a/F/M/iii | | Re: Embarrassing Longhair Incident | | I agree, it's probably not the first time he's heard that. After a certain point it's just funny. A long-time friend of mine also has long hair -- he has this gorgeous shiny 1a red-brown hair -- and people take one look at this impressive ponytail and assume he's a she. Nevermind the beard and the unfeminine build, long hair = woman. He thinks it's the greatest thing to answer in his deep voice. Doesn't say a thing about their assumption, just continues on, but inside he's laughing his head off. __________________ Ah! Don't feel bad. I am sure he thought nothing more about it If it makes you feel any better I have embarrassed myself much worse with other things __________________ I am really loving my wurly curls for the first time in my life! It's so unusual to see a man with long, well kept, hair. I'm sure he understood. | | | September 16th, 2006, 06:20 PM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: KS right now, AZ eventually Age: 28 Posts: 706 Length: 14/30/40+ Type: 1c/2a/M/ii | | Re: Embarrassing Longhair Incident | | He's probably used to it. It comes with the territory. My hubby is very masculine looking and he still gets it every once in a while. __________________ Shower Routine: CO and occassional CWC with Nature's Gate and V05 Treatments: Frequent SMTs with Burt's Bee's Avacado Butter added. I never mind those sorts of mistakes, and the flight attendant was harried as hell and busy getting everyone seated. I'm sure he understood that you were busy and saw just a flash of him out of the corner of your eye. | | | September 16th, 2006, 06:43 PM | #11 | | Moderator Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: SF, CA, USA Age: 47 Posts: 2,069 Length: 16 in/53 in/77in* Type: 2a/2b/C/iii | | Re: Embarrassing Longhair Incident | | As others have said, he's certainly heard it before, and is either laughing inside, or is feeling sorry for your chagrin. I have said, "It's OK, I've heard it before" but that doesn't seem to make people feel better. | | | September 16th, 2006, 06:44 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: West Texas Age: 39 Posts: 170 Type: 1a/F/i/ii | | Re: Embarrassing Longhair Incident | | Yeah, I've been called "sir" more times that I can count...all people seem to see is my height, never mind my obvious female figure. I'm sure he understood, it was a simple accident. ~Tik | | | September 16th, 2006, 08:07 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Seaside, Oregon Age: 52 Posts: 3,291 Length: 15/Waist/TB Type: 2b/2c/F/iii | | Re: Embarrassing Longhair Incident | | I agree I wouldn't worry about it, I am sure he has heard that several times. | | | September 16th, 2006, 08:23 PM | #14 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Sweden Age: 42 Posts: 111 | | Re: Embarrassing Longhair Incident | | How did he react?
