If you go looking for it, it looks like this http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2...2006080au0.jpg (Boy, did I get some looks taking that photo) This is the cheapest I’ve found it in the shops in the UK, so if you’ve been put of trying it because of the high price in some health food shops now’s your chance. I only wish I hadn’t just bought a huge tub for nearly 10 times that from Holland and Barret! Tesco seem to hair a lot of Indian foods in stock now, this might be dependant on the town you live in, but I’m finding quite a few things that are suitable for hair use very cheap, like a massive jar (about 20cm high) full of fenugreek powder for 99p, castor oil for about £1.50, almond oil available in little bottles for 45p or bigger ones for £1.99. | | | August 20th, 2006, 05:17 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,738 Length: 24/26.5/30 Type: 1a/F/ii | | Re: Ukers – Cheap Coconut Oil in Supermarket. | | Thanks for that, Sylph, I'll have a look next time I'm in a big Tesco. | | | August 20th, 2006, 05:24 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Wallace and Gromit Country Posts: 1,392 Length: shldr/TB/????? It's the same stuff I get in my local Chinese supermarket at the same price - phew, back to Tesco hating!) There are 2 tesco's nearish to me but neither of them has that world foods section which is a right pain! The only one i know of is miles away and even in a car probably takes about 45 minutes to get to, plus i don't drive so it's a nightmare! I do want to go there though for that oil, plus i think they do big amounts of spices etc, those little piddly jars that are sold in most spice sections of supermarkets dont last very long and probably work out much more expensive. I'll check out the one in Lewisham again, it's got a huge ethnic community there so it must have at least some stuff. Oh i saw that Coconut oil tub in Holland and Barratts too and i was vaguely tempted but i just couldn't justify spending that much on it! __________________ The heart would have no rainbow, had the eyes no tears. | | | August 20th, 2006, 07:03 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Buckinghamshire, England Age: 34 Posts: 485 Length: ??/40"/46" Type: 1b/1c/M/ii | | Re: Ukers – Cheap Coconut Oil in Supermarket. | | I didn't buy it because I have the *massive* Holland and Barret tub, which I've hardly touched because it cost so much I felt I had to be really spareing with it! It said '100% coconut' oil on it though, so I think it must be fairly good. | | | August 20th, 2006, 07:27 AM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,738 Length: 24/26.5/30 Type: 1a/F/ii | | Re: Ukers – Cheap Coconut Oil in Supermarket. | | IMO, it's ridiculous that the H&B stuff costs a tenner. I've been using the Superdrug one which costs 99p but is refined. I can't justify spending £9 more because something is "unrefined". I will now check Tescos out. | | | August 20th, 2006, 07:38 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Wallace and Gromit Country Posts: 1,392 Length: shldr/TB/????? It cost me £1-10. No, it doesn't smell of coconut. __________________ JULY 2006 | | | August 20th, 2006, 11:50 AM | #9 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: london Age: 35 Posts: 2,604 Length: crop/bra/hip+ Type: 2a/F/ii | | Re: Ukers – Cheap Coconut Oil in Supermarket. | | Ah, ok, thanks guys. I was hoping it would have a nice coconut smell to it as the superdrug one doesnt either. I just love that smell! So i thought it would be nice. Still very worth the price though. __________________ The heart would have no rainbow, had the eyes no tears. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
