I want to purchase some hair toys for my friend for her birthday. She has beautiful red hair. I am at a loss as to what color metal would look good. I have brown hair and prefer gold/brass. For those with red hair would you prefer brass, copper, or nickel for your hair toys?

I have red hair. I like copper, brass, or red gold. If you give her red gold, you are really a good friend!! ;-)
I don't care so much for silver, nickel, or other silvers or white metals, since they are cool colors and red hair is definitely warm. Any shades of deep bronze are also good, the browny red golds are always good.
You are so good to think what she would like, rather than give her what you would like! She's a lucky person having a friend like you.

For my wedding, I had a gold headpeice (its in my photo journal) and I thought it looked pretty good. I was wearing warm colors in my eye and lip makeup with it and I thought it looked really good. Other times that I'm wearing the warm colors, I like to wear copper. I have a copper hatband on my brown leather cowboy hat and I love how it looks with my hair.

However, if I'm wearing cool colors, I think the silver looks good on my hair (and my skin). Especially bright white silvers (which is my favorite metal). I think the contrast of the cool colors REALLY brings out the red in my hair. Its the metal that my DH prefers the most with my hair.

Most natural redheads tend to have coloring that goes best with gold-toned metals. If she dyes her hair and it is more of a burgandy, it would look better with silver-toned metals.

I'm a redhead and I never wear yellow metals. I would base it on her jewelry, does she wear gold or silver?

I usually prefer copper or dark brass or bronze, or antiqued gold, but I have some nickel or silver toys that look nice too. One thing I bought recently surprised me: I got a hair pin with magenta-pink crystals on the top. I tried on a bunch of different colors, thought the pink would look hideous in my hair, and actually it was quite pretty - the hot pink really emphasized the redness of the hair. Green crystals also looked very nice, as expected. Surprisingly, the black/onyx ones kind of disappeared - didn't "pop" as I thought they would.

I'm a redhead and I like them all! Quality, unique designs, or a motif that reflects some aspect of my interests or personality are attractive to me.

I'd also suggest looking at what jewelry she likes to wear, as many people have a preference -- by taste or budget -- for gold or for silver tones.

I agree. Go with the metal tone she wears most in her jewellery. I am a yellow gold girl and have only gold tone in my hair toys. I have dark, intense red hennaed hair and gold looks great in my hair.

I have hennaed red hair and I think pale gold and a more rich silver look the best in MY hair. I do not usually wear gold as I think silver suits me better. I say go with the color tone that she wears the most; we are each attracted to our favorite metallic colors for a reason.

I'm a redhead (a mix of red and coppery/ginger highlights), very pale skin, pale blue eyes and never wear any gold/yellow/orange/brown coloured metals as they look BAD on me!

Silver colours I love though and think they look amazing against my skin/hair. My favourite hairsticks were a pair I made myself from Pewter topped with large green flat beads with silver foil on the inside.

I would also go by her jewelry. My skin is very cool toned, so I tend to wear silver and white gold. Most of my metal hairtoys are some silver tone, but I do have some things in gold and a coppery/rosy gold color. I prefer the look of silver tones.

Ooh, I have a hypothesis! What I call "Vibrant redheads" (darker hair, green eyes, less freckles) tend to be warm toned, but "gingers" are cool or nuetral toned. It probably isn't really true, but it would explain what I always that was anomaly that I was a cool-toned almost-redhead.

To the OP, I think copper is a good bet. I agree with the advice to look at the jewelry she wears.

Agreed. Although by colors I'm "supposed" to wear gold, I prefer silver, and wouldn't have much of a use for anything that didn't match the rest of what I wore.
