Like it's not even mine, but someone else's hair that has been left there by fairies! I just keep petting it like a creature which is soon leaving. My hair is fine and heavy, but not usually so SOFT! And the thing is that the past two days have been ultra humid and cool (unusual), with a haze in the air both days about all day. Hot and humid weather I'm kinda used to, but in hot, I sweat so much, my hair has a totally different texture, i.e. pasted down with sweat. So ... this is nice, but it won't last. Yesterday high temps in the 80s with lots of clouds, today temps are going back up to the 90s and sunshine. __________________ "Character is what you are in the dark." -- Dr. Emilio Lizardo, in "Buckaroo Bonzai Across the Eighth Dimension." My hair loves humidity. It becomes its true self. In my dry climate, I oil and keep it up most of the time. But, if I travel to a humid climate and let it down...wowsers! Lucky you, blue_nant! Enjoy it while you can. | | | August 9th, 2006, 06:08 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Toronto Age: 43 Posts: 194 Length: 16/16/35 Type: 2b/2c/F/i | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | Me too. It's when my waves really come out without too much coaxing, and I get real body. | | | August 9th, 2006, 06:19 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: East Coast, USA Posts: 286 Length: 16/mbl/class Type: 3b/F/M/iii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | Oh yes. My hair is always so soft and wonderful in the humidity. I noticed last year when there was a period of days and days of rain and humid weather that my hair was thriving! I know a lot of people complain about what the humidity does to their hair...but for me, it's great! | | | August 9th, 2006, 06:42 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: SoCal Age: 39 Posts: 70 Length: 1/8/30 Type: 3a/M/C/ii/iii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | Yep, my hair loves the humidity, especially vacationing at the beach. Not so much hot humid, but cool humid does the trick. Which is why I am looking forward to moving up to Oregon __________________ First goal - chin length, all one length (Dec. 2006) Second goal - BSL (Est. I'm a NO voter here. My hair does not like humidity! It is more wavy, but the overall affect is a big POOF! Each strand looks like it's been razzled. (on a side note - my hair doesn't like soft water either- out here we have very hard water and I guess it's just gotten used to it - I've lived here my whole life.) | | | August 9th, 2006, 06:57 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: near Seattle Age: 55 Posts: 1,184 Length: 13/27/42 Type: 2b/2c/M/iii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | I hate my hair in humidity. It becomes rough and puffy and dull and my head appears encased in a pyramid of hair. Not a pretty sight! __________________ 1 January 2007 Last edited by wimsey : August 9th, 2006 at 09:22 AM. | | | August 9th, 2006, 07:49 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Age: 36 Posts: 666 Length: 7/7/Trml Type: 4a/F/M/ii/iii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | Ooooh yes, my hair (and skin) LOVES humidity. I don't love it so much, but they do. My hair turns all soft and fuzzy - it truly becomes a cotton ball. | | | August 9th, 2006, 07:53 AM | #9 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Beautiful Pacific Northwest Age: 53 Posts: 1,352 Length: ?/33/TBL Type: 1b/1c/F/ii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | My hair loves humidity!!! It's the only time I have hair! The rest of the time it just hangs there in limp strings. Sadly, Washington is not nearly as humid as I thought it would be and doesn't help my hair as much as I had hoped. __________________ Deep peace of the running wave to you. During the winter my hair gets weighed down and is pretty mcuh wavy and on the dry side. During the summer I have curls. My curls are bouncy, soft, more moisturized, and for the most part just plain happier in humidity. I'm glad you are having good hair days too. | | | August 9th, 2006, 08:06 AM | #11 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Houston, TX Age: 27 Posts: 145 Type: 3a/M/iii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | Oh NO. I found out the hard way when I lived in Georgia for 6 weeks in August and September. It was frizzy and coarse and unmanageable. But mostly frizzy and curlier. I was very unhappy with my hair those 6 weeks. | | | August 9th, 2006, 08:50 AM | #14 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2006 Age: 35 Posts: 145 Length: 30/30.25/41 Type: 2b/M/ii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | My hair loves humidity. Whenever I visit my hometown in the semi-arid panhandle, my hair tangles and statics and just makes me miserable. But when I am back here, in the humidity, no tangles, no static, same amount of frizz (I guess the frizz is just constant), and more wurls and waves. Although, there are those days of extreme humidity, those days when you can't tell if the moisture on your skin is sweat or condensation, and my hair gets very poufy. I call it my anime hair because it's so poufy and it defies gravity. Those days it's hard to get my hair under control, but I don't mind, because I get to laugh every time I look in the mirror. Afterall, this is Texas, the land of Big Hair. At least I fit in, if only for a day at a time. | | | August 9th, 2006, 09:11 AM | #15 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Northeast Indiana Age: 40 Posts: 189 Length: pixie/20/waist Type: 1c/2a/M/ii/iii | | Re: Does your hair love humidity? | | Ooh, ugh. Humidity and my hair - not good.
