I am often thinking about whether I am still at an average range or below. I have about 4 health issues. 2 never go away but I can life with them well. And for the other pproblems- I hope 2007 is the year to get healthy. My issues are: -Immune system weakness due to mononucleosis -Had Uterus cancer pap4 which should be gone now. -Fructose Malabsorption- Cant eat food that contains fructose -Low weight because of the other 3 sicknesses Explanation: 1.I had mononucleosis in Feb 2004. A strong fever that weakens ur immune system. Some people need months of rest before they can live a normal life again. The longer you suffer the more it weakens you.I had it for 6 (!! ususally 3 weeks) months because no dr. discovered it until I broke down at school. After a couple of yrs. the immune system weakness is suposed to get better, but the virus stays forever. End of last yr. was my worst time. I was sick 2 times a month. I have been healthy for 3 months straight and Im very glad about it, hoping I beat it. 2.Was discovered in 2004. My pap test showed a pap3..more tests even said its a 4. I had tissue removed and got a few very light chemos. I have to go for a check up regulary. 3.The fructose malabsorption was discovered in Jan.06 after 6 yrs of suffering. I used to have terrible stomach problems and digestion problems. But no dr. ever found the cause. Since I follow my fructose diet my weight went up and Im a lot healthier. 4. All these factors made it hard for me to maintain a healthy weight. I was eating and eating tons of food to survive 0_o I finally am at a healthy weight and very happy about it. I wonder if there are any members that have the same health conditions /similar problems or any other sicknesses. If yes how do you deal with them? And do you think your lifestyle affects your health? I have been healthy since I quit my job. I hope Im strong enough for college in summer. | | | May 18th, 2006, 02:46 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jan 2005 Age: 27 Posts: 429 Length: ?/32/36 Type: 1a/F/M/ii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | I said I'm average.. My diet isn't great, but I do pretty hard physical labor 3 hours a day, 3 days a week; and I ride horses 1-3 times a week (and yes, that is exercise!). __________________ I'm on the right . | | | May 19th, 2006, 07:20 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2006 Location: Malaysia Age: 23 Posts: 741 Length: 24"/21.5"/30++ Type: 1b/F/M/ii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | I'm average too...I exercise quite often but my BMI is ridiculously low.... I also exercise daily and that keeps me fit. I take flaxseed oil (organic LOL!) and vitamin E for my eczema but that is the only problem I have. I have an excellent immune system and rarely get sick. And if I do get sick it is usually something minor like a cold or sore throat. I did put I am a very healthy person even though I do have eczema...it is under control but IMHO it is not a sign of poor health. It is like someone having an allergy. I can't help it. | | | May 20th, 2006, 08:02 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2006 Age: 26 Posts: 210 Length: 22"/32"/36" Type: 2a/2b/M/iii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | This past year has been the worst of my life. Normally, I rarely get sick but.... I also had mononucleosis, epstein barr (sp?), and H. Pylori. And those are just the biggies. I've had cold after cold and seem to catch everything anyone else has. I've been so exhausted too. I lost 20lbs this year from being sick. I was working three jobs (b/c I liked them) as well as going to school. I had to quit two of my jobs and only work one day a week now (loved the job too much to quit). I also had to take fewer classes b/c of the exhaustion (I think worst of it has passed though). Emichiee, I hope your getting over all your sicknesses. I know how bad mononucleosis is and am positive that is why I have been so sick lately. My diet is healthy but I shoule excersize more. __________________ Last edited by pinkcat2006 : May 20th, 2006 at 08:43 AM. | | | May 20th, 2006, 04:51 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Germany-U.S.Military Housing Age: 30 Posts: 1,335 Length: 20/30/35.5/trim Type: 1a/M/ii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | Quote: | Originally Posted by pinkcat2006 This past year has been the worst of my life. I finnished school 04 when I had it and started working a full time job right away..I never got my rest..and the longer you suffered the more rest you need My friend had Mono too but he only suffered for a half yr..I had two bad yrs..but its getting better finally. | | | May 20th, 2006, 05:18 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2004 Posts: 1,208 | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | This is a tricky question for me. On one hand I'm very healthy eating a strict raw food diet & taking supplements. On the other hand I have always had different health issues which I'm still trying to resolve. But I don't get normal illnesses anymore like colds or the flu. So that's progress. | | | May 21st, 2006, 04:51 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2005 Location: The Queen City Age: 49 Posts: 2,006 Length: 47 cm/62 cm/80 cm Type: 3a/M/ii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | I eat good food, much of it organic, walk to work, and bike to church. I am overweight, though (but I think I'm really undertall), and had some teeth break last year. Another tooth felt like it was set in jelly, but it's gotten better. About the overweight: There are studies linking overweight to heart disease, diabetes, etc. Does overweight cause them, or does something else cause both overweight and them? And what about someone who eats well and is still overweight? | | | May 22nd, 2006, 07:30 PM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2006 Location: Valhalla (MO) Age: 30 Posts: 600 Length: 10"/28.5"/term Type: 1b/1c/F/M/ii/iii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | I had mono earlier this year and thought I was going to die, I was so miserable. That, coupled with other problems, led me to drop out of school until next spring. My major medical issues are a result of having had my thyroid removed 8 years ago, due to cancer. I'm on replacement hormone, but no matter what, I always feel a bit off. Add in anxiety and depression, and occasional migraines (likely all caused by the lack of thyroid), and sometimes I feel like I can't function. | | | May 22nd, 2006, 07:53 PM | #10 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2005 Location: Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas Age: 71 Posts: 258 Length: 3 in/5 in/5 in Type: 1a/F/i | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | Passed another annual physical but am on the borderline in some areas. A few aches and pains but that is expected for an old geezer like me. Try to exercise daily and watch what I eat. Have lost 15 pounds in the past two months and working on losing more. My goal is to get back to my weight when I retired from the US military. __________________ Cactus Jack Duct tape is like the "Force." My sister and I walk 2 miles three times a week. Of course--some improvement would be good. | | | May 25th, 2006, 12:59 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2005 Location: Germany Age: 31 Posts: 108 Length: 26/28/35 Type: 2c/3a/M/ii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | I think I'm quiet healthy, perhaps even very healthy. I make sports 3 times a week and sometimes gymnastics at home, too. I don't eat to much and it is rather healthy food. Though I like sweets and chocolate a lot. My only problem are my teeth they are really bad but I can't help it. I washed them 5 times a day without any effect. But I am satisfied after all. | | | May 25th, 2006, 01:07 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Oklahoma Age: 58 Posts: 2,717 Length: 16 in/16 in/BSL Type: 1a/1b/F/i/ii | Re: How healthy are you ? | | I put ok/lifestyle and diet. My only problems are allergies and I can't tolerate fructose either. I'm not on a special diet for the fructose problem, it seems to help if I just stay away from things that have high fructose corn syrup in them. Unfortunately a lot of prepackaged food has that in it. My teeth aren't very good. I'm going to the denist in a couple of weeks to see what can be done. __________________ Starting Over, May 2007 | | | May 25th, 2006, 01:16 PM | #14 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Puget Sound, Washington Age: 59 Posts: 4,252 Length: 24.5/waist/clasc Type: 2c/M/iii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | Sigh ... it seems that for every good habit (almost daily exercise), I have a bad habit (overeating). My 2 health issues are acne and ulcerative colitis (big unhappy frown). Considering what others are going through, I'm pretty lucky. I guess. __________________ April 30, 2007 | | | May 25th, 2006, 06:01 PM | #15 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2005 Location: The Queen City Age: 49 Posts: 2,006 Length: 47 cm/62 cm/80 cm Type: 3a/M/ii | | Re: How healthy are you ? | | For teeth, I suggest dulse (other algae should also kelp, so don't wrack your brains if you don't find dulse). It is full of minerals, including magnesium (strengthens teeth) and fluorine (promotes acid resistance). A gram a day seems to be a good dose. This may take a few weeks to have a noticeable effect. If your teeth are loose or your gums bleed, you may need vitamin C, silicon, or calcium. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
