Indian Herbal Nourisher & cleanser recipes

Here are two Indian Herbal mixes. The first one is a nourishing hair pack and the other one is a cleanser. Everything is in powdered form. They work quite well, but if you find them too harsh or stripping, you may consider using them on pre-oiled hair. Remember that they can have a darkening effect on the hair.

1. Herbal nourisher Ingredients:

Amla : 5 teaspoons
Kesut: 3 teaspoons
Brahmi: 3 teaspoons
Methi: 7 teaspoons
Bhringaraj: 1 teaspoon
Hibiscus: 1 teaspoon

Method of application:

Take required quantity of mix and make into a smooth paste with hot water. Apply all over scalp and hair. Keep for about an hour and wash off with shampoo/condish of your choice.

2. Herbal Hair Cleanser Ingredients:

Aritha: 6 teaspoons
Bahera: 2 teaspoons
Henna: 3 teaspoons
Methi: 2 teaspoons
Neem: 2 teaspoons

Method of application;

Take required amount and make into a soft paste with water. Wet hair thouroughly. You can use in in two ways. Either take scoops and scrub scalp or put it on as a pack and wash off after some time. You have to find out for yourself what suits you best.

Happy playing.

Re: Indian Herbal Nourisher & cleanser recipes

Thanks for sharing your recipes, hairyfairy! I'm wondering, does it make a difference if you made the paste with cold water instead of hot?

Re: Indian Herbal Nourisher & cleanser recipes

I've noticed most Indian herb users use hot water to "activate" the herbs.

Ah ok, thanks icydove! I'm a bit lazy to use hot water, but I guess there's no help for it

Re: Indian Herbal Nourisher & cleanser recipes

Thanx for the recipes, hairfairy!

One of these days I'll buy the ingredients and try it for sure!

Have you tried these yourself? If yes, could you please share the benefits you've seen?

Also, the "noirisher" - is it a deep-condish treatment kind of thing and would you do it before you wash, instead the wash?

Re: Indian Herbal Nourisher & cleanser recipes

hairymonster As Icydove said, dry Indian herbs are generally 'activated' with hot water.

Murbella I have used them and regular use of the pack does give you stronger and darker hair. I had to discontinue it as my husband couldn't stand the smell of Fenugreek in my hair. I am now thinking of making up a fresh batch minus the Methi. And you use the nourisher as a pre-wash.

Thanx, hairyfairy!

I wonder if you know which of the components is causing the darkening - this is not the effect that I am going for

Amla, Kesut, Bhringaraj, Hibiscus and Bahera.. all are known to have darkening properties.
