Has this ever happened to you. Maybe at BigLots or BiLo? Or a obscure little shop? and find a hidden treasure? Today I went into a discount store that sells dented cans looking for cheap virgin coconut oil. Instead I found. 1. Coconut milk $0.25 a can (different brands) 2. FOTE aloe gel $2.00 which is almost $4 at Walmart. Maybe you've found wooden combs at flea markets or hair toys? Oils? Butters? | | | May 2nd, 2006, 03:10 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2006 Posts: 637 Length: 14/26/36 Type: 1b/F/M/i/ii | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | Oh yes... I think unexpected treasures somehow make you feel like you are on a roll... Ohhh I love that feeling too... I am not so into oils so I have never felt this way with oils but well with hair toys it is a different matter. Along flea markets... and all in foreign countries sometimes you stumble upon beautiful wood work and beadwork for hair toys. And the bonus is usually an affordable price... Unexpected treasures are great! __________________ It takes two... but often more... | | | May 2nd, 2006, 04:23 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: BFE Posts: 7,970 Length: 18"?/36"/40" Type: 1c/2a/M/ii | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | Yes I have. That's so much fun to find a little goodie. I found some Ficcares on sale at the Mall of America about 3 or 4 years ago. Marked way down. It wasn't at Nordstroms but one of the other anchor stores. I bought one in every style they had on sale. And then not too long ago I found a nice supply of WR Lemongrass conditioner at a Pamida. I think I bought 14 bottles of it. It's discontinued. | | | May 2nd, 2006, 05:23 PM | #4 | | Moderator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Central Tejas Age: 49 Posts: 12,727 Type: 2b/2c/F/i | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | I'm ALWAYS checking out BigLots. I've found a bazillion things there: shower drain screens (to prevent drain-cloggage), no-metal pony ties (thin, thick, small, large, jumbo), ABBA shampoo and conditioners, Goody clips (various - very smooth) etc. Congrats on your great finds! | | | May 3rd, 2006, 11:10 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: West Central Texas Posts: 710 | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | My best find was Goody hairpins at a Big Lots - usually $3, for 25 cents! I bought all they had. I love to look at the hair stuff anyway. __________________ Marian 2aFii 3/37/classic and beyond strawberry blonde and silver | | | May 3rd, 2006, 11:30 AM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: California Posts: 457 Length: 2 in/42/45 Type: 2b/M/iii | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | When our local Big Lots was phasing out their hair things, they had two huge bins full of hair toys. I was diving for what seemed like an hour. I got so many nice little things for about $.25 a piece. :-) | | | May 3rd, 2006, 11:34 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Wallace and Gromit Country Posts: 1,392 Length: shldr/TB/????? I got three pairs of decorated metal hair sticks from ebay for £9 with no postage which are gorgeous, then this weekend I found a pair to bead myself for £2.75 (been looking for these for ages) which I think is cheap anyway. Tuesday I bought two really nice, reasonably short, shaped metal chopsticks for 20p. YAY!!!!! Oh and some gorgeous metal and crstal hair sticks in Claires for £1 for a pair (which was annoying as I'd bought them two days earlier at £3odd, but it meant I could justify a spare pair) I also found a website selling two wooden hairsticks and a hair fork in mixed woods (so they have a stripy pattern) for £7 no postage. Again not an amazing bargain but so rare to find that I would have paid a lot more for them! I must stop buying hair toys, I must stop buying hair toys....................... | | | May 3rd, 2006, 12:07 PM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Pennsylvania Age: 23 Posts: 783 Length: 14/32/38 Type: 2b/M/C/ii/iii | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | Quote: | Originally Posted by Tsuyu Oh yes... It's like... I can not think of the feeling. But I almost forgot. I got a wood slide from Goodies, and it cost $.45. It is special, because it is my first slide. | | | May 3rd, 2006, 05:40 PM | #10 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Chicago-ish ;) Age: 31 Posts: 1,686 Length: Chin/BSL/waist Type: 2a/F/M/ii | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | Hmmm.....Big Lots has lots of hair toys? My latest treasures are Taiwan clips that I found from a local department store. I have also found a nice fakkare quite recently. It's great to find something like that unexpectedly. __________________ | | | May 4th, 2006, 02:15 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Aug 2004 Posts: 301 Length: 17''c/25"/waist Type: 3c/4a/M/C/iii | | Re: Unexpected Treasures. | | Elbereth, yes it is great to find something like that unexpectedly. I just wanted to make a correction. I didn't find good cupcake cups, but when I wandered over to the hairtoy aisle (which took quite a bit of wandering, since haircare is way on the other side of the store from where baking stuff is located) and found this perfect leather slide. It's stick was wooden and it was the perfect brown color. People asked me the next day when I wore it if I got it in India. And some of you know about the time I bought my very first hairsticks (which I'm still in love with) after having an argument with my husband at Rite Aid.
