WO vs. OCM for mild acne

Clover's post got me thinking.

I've been using WO for my skin since January, and I'm loving it. No more dry skin itchies, no more cutting myself while shaving (I don't even have to use shaving gel), and no more soapscum! Yay!

However, my face hasn't been 100% clear since I was 14. Nothing major (usually), just a couple of subtle pink spots with a few more noticeable ones around that time of the month.

For those of you with mild acne who have tried both WO and OCM, how do they compare? While you're at it, what other miracle cures have you found?

Thanks.

Re: WO vs. OCM for mild acne

Neither work for me. My skin hates everything. It really sucks. I have a problem with both dryness & acne. I even eat super healthy.

Re: WO vs. OCM for mild acne

After following both WO and OCM I observed that OCM does more for my acne. I've read here that OCM + honey is even better but I've yet to try it myself. Since your acne is very, very mild, how about using something on individual areas like tea tree oil or aloe?

Re: WO vs. OCM for mild acne

I prefer water only and have only a few extremely small zits a month. The reason I don't use OCM very often is because I could not be gentle enough and it was causing wear and tear on my skin, which led to damage which was just as bad as zits. Of course, I've pretty much done WO my whole life with just a few experiments so my skin is not used to lots of manipulation. I think some of it was laziness but some of it was just that it worked best for my skin. If WO is working for you, stick with it!

By the way, I recently got some mineral makeup and I use it somewhat strangely. If I get a zit, I'll put some of the foundation on it at night and it will almost always dry up by the morning. With the addition of this to my WO, I almost never have a zit that lasts longer than 1-2 days and I haven't had any of those huge, mountainous ones either!

Re: WO vs. OCM for mild acne

I used OCM for a while, and while it didn't bother my face, it didn't do much for my acne, either. I decided it was more effort than it was worth, and switched to WO.

WO really seems to have helped. I used to have extreme combination skin--an oil slick on my forehead, and peeling and flaking on my cheeks. With just WO and jojoba as a moisturizer (and sunscreen during the day) it balanced out nicely, and I noticed fewer breakouts.

These days, I use water in the morning (and am experimenting with various sunscreens), but I use water and a rosewater/glycerin toner at night (I'm using Burt's Bees right now, but will probably just make my own when it's gone). I'm also using From Nature With Love's Camelina Rosehip oil blend at night, which has a bunch of carrier and essential oils that are supposed to be good for skin. I'm liking it a lot.

I do occassional (maybe once a week) masks with either aspirin or clay or an herb blend. If I get any pimples, I put a drop of tea tree oil on it and it usually goes away pretty soon.

This has all worked well for me, but everyone's different, so you might just have to experiment and see!
