Moon and hair cutting

Some say, it's better to cut your hair to promote length when cutting during the waxing moon phase. Others think the full moon is a good time. Is that so ? Has anyone experienced it ? Or do you have a cut just when you fell you need it ? Just wondered .... I ask this because today is full moon and the MM says it's a good time to cut for lengthening, too.

I don't know.... I don't really by into all that, because it doesn't make a lick of sense to me.. BUT just for kicks, this whole year I have been trimming by the MM dates for lengthening... and my hair has grown faster. It might not be the trimming, it could be something else, but since I need to trim anyways, I've just been doing the MM dates.

I think in general, people try to trim on the full moon.. but I could be wrong!

It's supposed to be...

full or waxing moon = increase growth
new or waning moon = to just decrease growth (although hair still grows)

I've been told / have read , that new moon is a time to cut hair, and while
it's waxing again towards full moon, the hair will grow faster....

different stories about this I guess

Nor to me. Could someone who has an understanding of how this works or is supposed to work please explain what you can? Why would cutting the ends of hair make it grow faster (or slower)?

It's a pagan ritual...

usually full moon / waxing moon = fertility and growth

new moon / waning moon = the reverse

Sort of like a prayer in a sense.

Trimming one's hair has no effect on the growth rate (now, trimming off splits will keep the hair from splitting and breaking, but that's another story). I think what they're getting at is that, theoretically, hair will grow faster when the moon is full, so if you trim your hair at that time, it'll grow back faster than it would if you trimmed at a new moon. I.E., you'll spend less time with the slightly shorter length.

That's my take on it, anyway....

the closest i got for a reason is
The Moon's magnetic force pulls all that contains water: the tides of our oceans, the blood and fluids of our bodies, and the vital essences of all plantlife--such influence can be seen quite clearly in the growth of plants.

thanks

so nobody has really experienced it, except Valerie with the MM method. (Full moon based ?). We all heard about it in theory, and know the moon has influence on living beings.
Thanks again ! Love ya all

dammit...when I cut my hair, I wasn't paying attention, and did it during the waning moon :x but I've gotten 1" a month since then so I can't have screwed up *too* badly.

Thank you for the explanations. That the hair may grow faster or slower at various times of the month or year makes good sense to me. And as the moon unquestionably has an influence on the earth and life here, it certainly could affect hair growth. I still have difficulty understanding why cutting hair would influence the growth (unless one philosophically is making a sacrifice of their hair to try to influence growth), but. April. your explanation seems understandable to me.

Thanks again to all and a good day to you.

I could be wrong about this, but I think the reason Valerie (hugs to you sweetie) knows that's it working for her, is that she keeps immaculate track of her growth rates.

Nope... i have as well. I also, like Val, keep immaculate records of my growth and have found the same thing to be true and since we've discussed this topic several times over the last few years, I know there are others as well.

Great quote smiles, thanks! Farmers have been planting, pruning and harvesting their crops for thousands of years by the phases of the Moon, pick up a Farmer's Almanac for more info.

Cheers, Sheba

Yep.. the farmers definately do this. I was at an old homesite/ museum type deal... they take you on a tour of the old house and tell you about the family. The guy in the museum started talking about how they did practically EVERYTHING according to the phases of the moon, even hair cuts, and he said he gets HIS hair cut according to the moon (to make it grow slower) and that it works.
I read in a book that farmers (100+ years ago) would farm at *nighttime* by the light of the moon... their eyes must have been much better then. No straining in flouresent lighting... plus I am sure it was cooler at night. Just some interestin' things I've learned. LOL

Yeah, I do keep "immaculate" track of my growth. I mark my growth atleast twice a month on my calendar and trims and all that (even moon phases. ). BUT... it could be vitamins/ brushing routine/ products... that improved my growth, because I change alot..!
