We had a cheap one years ago, last night he told me how much he enjoyed our juicing ritual. While he was changing after getting home from work I would juice up a big glass of whatever for each of us, then we would clean the thing up together. I got rid of it because of course it had plastic parts and of course they broke and you can't fix plastic. (I hate plastic with a purple passion, if there is a choice between plastic and wood/metal/glass I'll get the non-plastic thing every time.) So, does anyone have a juicer they like and can recommend? All I really want is one that is easy to clean up, and that is not mostly plastic. I spent several hours last night researching online, now I'm confused LOL. | | | July 15th, 2003, 01:04 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 3,935 | I don't know, but I'd like to try the Jack Lalane power juicer. It sounds good, so if anyone here has one, is it as good as they say? I HATE cleaning ours, it's an Oster, has all these crevices, nooks and crannies (whatever for???) it's a bitch to clean! But I love fresh juice. I was looking at some at Whole Foods today, there was one for just under $300, but that's pricey  I'm glad you started this thread Dulci, 'cuz I've been meaning to. This is a good way to research. | | | July 15th, 2003, 03:14 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Age: 52 Posts: 918 | All I wanted to say is I also want the Jack Lalane Juicer. Type: 3a/3b/F/M/ii | Jack La Lanne?!? Good heavens, is he still alive? LOL he IS, I just found his website: http://www.jacklalanne.com/ he's in his late 80s. Awww, look, they gave him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Wow, I remember being a toddler and watching his show, my mom had a stretchy blue jump rope thingy and watched him every day. I found a really great comparison chart of juicers here: http://www.discountjuicers.com/compare.html, one of the categories is "Ease of CleanUp" Yay! I think I'm going to get the L'Equip Mini, it was rated Easiest Cleanup: http://www.discountjuicers.com/lequipmini.html, I borrowed the picture to show you It's kinda cool looking. :P | | | July 16th, 2003, 02:30 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 3,935 | ooo I don't know Dulci...is that some sort of warning there on the side? "Stand back man! Here comes the JUICE!" Plus, I'm not so sure about the gray, looks like prison property to me I'm just kidding of course | | | July 22nd, 2003, 12:13 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Fionavar Age: 43 Posts: 2,444 | Oooh, I like that one, Dulci! Very high tech looking... I used to have juicers, but now I just toss everything in my VitaMix (I peel oranges, and core apples--but everything else goes in!) and I feel like I'm getting more of the fruit (or whatever). That sucker grinds up *everything*! __________________ | | | August 11th, 2003, 09:28 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 1,757 Length: 12/40.5/? Type: 3a/3b/F/M/ii | Hi Karen! Yes, I got that model, and I really like it. It is MUCH easier to clean and assemble/disassemble than the one I had before. Of course you gotta drop the grinder basket thingy in the soapy water immediately to let it soak for awhile (don't EVER let the pulp dry on that thing, don't ask how I know LOL ). We have really enjoyed it. DH calls me as he's starting home, that gives me time to get everything ready. Then I juice us both a large glass and we sit down, relax and drink it together before supper. I'm really lucky that my local grocery store has such great produce too. :P | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
