I have a Jean-Pierre all BBB Prestige brush. I pull out shed hair from it after each use, and wash it every so often with a mild shampoo. My question is, that even after I wash it and it looks almost like new, if I start pulling apart the tufts there is still a little dust or lint stuck in the bottom of them. I've tried cleaning the tufts with a fine tooth comb before wet washing the brush and that helped a little, but I'm afraid that doing it repeatedly may damage the bristles. Anybody else have dusty tufts? Am I not cleaning my brush properly, or is this just normal for a brush that's been used? TIA! __________________ | | | October 30th, 2003, 06:46 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Sep 2003 Location: Midwest, US Age: 30 Posts: 967 Length: 31/40/43 Type: 1c/F/ii | My tufts are always dusty. lol. I don't wash them as frequently as I should, but I think that even if I did, they'd still be like that. I don't think you're going to get it 100% clean. I think my brush starts getting dusty after a week. (I just got a new one.) __________________ "For we are what we believe ourselves to be. Maybe the Jean Pierre line carries something like this too, or you could get the MP one. Don't know if that would help with the fuzzy tufts though. There's a pic and description of the cleaning brush here: http://www.whatshebuys.com/mas-mp-cleanbr.html bunniee | | | October 30th, 2003, 07:11 PM | #4 | | Moderator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: In the closet with Mothra Posts: 6,122 Length: 26"/33.5"/39.5" Type: 2b/F/ii | I get dusty tufts, too LOL. If you find yourself completely bored and want to waste some time, use a toothpick to gently ease the lint out, kind of poking it in from the side. It's amazing that the lint will be connected by fibers of unknown origin, too. __________________ The Big Question oil: Japanese camellia shampoo: Earthly Delight leave-in: Shea It Ain't So treatments: cassia; Phytologie Phytomoelle avatar: Una and the Lion ~Briton Rivière | | | October 30th, 2003, 07:11 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Sipping Darjeeling with Jesus and LisaJaney Age: 47 Posts: 3,307 Length: 24/45/?? Do you just rub it through the bristles of the BBB? __________________ | | | October 30th, 2003, 07:13 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Sipping Darjeeling with Jesus and LisaJaney Age: 47 Posts: 3,307 Length: 24/45/?? Thanks! __________________ | | | October 30th, 2003, 07:30 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 2,015 Type: 2b/F/M/ii | Quote: | Originally Posted by Tresses Bunniee, thanks for that link! There's lots of space between the tufts on the cleaning brush, so it's easy to clean *that* brush too. bunniee | | | October 31st, 2003, 03:12 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Pacific Northwest Posts: 2,188 Type: 1a/1b/F/ii | Hi Tresses! Bunniee beat me to it. I have a little metal rake I got with my FUller BB. They're about seven bucks. It doesn't clean out the tufts completely, but it does a better job overall of cleaning out my brush than my fingers do. ALso, careful with that washing! I wouldn't want you to suffer STINKY BRUSH as I did! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
