Pureology products?

My hair dresser has switched to these products. Has anyone tried these and what do you think of them?

TIA

Re: Pureology products?

My HD has used Pureology products on me for years. No harm, no foul -- she still uses them and I don't protest I find them to be gentle enough, but not necessarily of greater quality than any other high-end line. I think the Pureology "thing" is that they don't use sulfates in their products. I remember 1-2 of the shampoos having peppermint in them, so you may feel your scalp tingle when she is using them -- if you have a sensitive scalp, it could feel like a bit of burning. The styling products I've seen do have cones in them -- I saw dimethicone (and maybe a second cone also) listed in several items on her shelf. IME, I have not had any adverse affects to hair, scalp or haircolor with her using the Pureology stuff (once every 7-8 weeks).

If you like something enough to buy it for home, make sure you understand the "guarantee" Pureology offers. Years ago, I bought S&C from my HD and really didn't like it after several uses at home. I brought it back to her at my next appointment. She said that I am really supposed to send it back to Pureology for a refund, even though that is a hassle. I told her that I wasn't going to do that, that if she didn't want to refund my money, she could deduct the price from that day's cut/color fees. She did.

BTW, I love your avatar pic!

Re: Pureology products?

HI Curls,

Thanks for the info! I did think the product had quite an intense scent to it. Now I'm wondering if it in fact had the peppermint in it. Good to know about the refund policy, too!

Re: Pureology products?

curls2grow, I'm really glad you made the shop send the product back. That's the least of good customer service! That a hairdresser wouldn't stand behind her products is the oddest thing I've ever heard.

I've never used it, but it sounds interesting enough to try a small bottle of the conditioner.

Re: Pureology products?

You can request free samples from Pureology.com...It took them about 6 weeks to arrive at my place...I received a heavily scented creamy shampoo...I can't remember the name....it was purple in color....it wasn't bad...but not fantastic either...it did make my hair fairly soft.....I also tried the conditioner which I was less fond of....once again....very strongly scented....they are herably in nature....like lavender and mint....my husband thought the products absolutely stunk...but...he hates Aubrey Organics too (if you are familiar with that line)

Re: Pureology products?

I haven't used my Pureology stuff lately, but that's only because I've been shampooing my scalp once every week and a half or so for a while now, and have been using Nature's Gate shampoos for that. However! I have and (still do) love the Hydrate shampoo and conditioner, and the Volume shampoo. They are fantastic. I have repurchased them all a couple times in the last year or so. This is all coming from a -serious- hair product junkie. I have tried everything there is in last five years, and now I only keep on hand the very best shtuff. So anyway, the point is that those three Pureology products work very well for me, and are worth trying, imo. I've also read great things about the Reconstructor, but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet. The lavender-colored shampoo is the Hydrate shampoo. The poos seem pretty concentrated, and I've always liked to dilute them with some water before applying to my scalp. hths!
