Question Is all silica from horsetail?

I bought biotin the other day. And it said that one of the other ingredients is silica. Does that mean it has horsetail in it?

The reason I want to know is I want to know if this biotin is safe to take during pregnancy. I assume there's not high amounts of silica because it is mainly biotin and the silica is just "added" to it. Do you think I can still take it.

Re: Is all silica from horsetail?

I worked in a pharmacy for seven years and there is no way I would take anything while pregnant(OTC or not) without checking with my doctor. You really should make sure first.

Re: Is all silica from horsetail?

Pharmacists (at least in the US) are not allowed to make any suggestions when it comes to pregnancy. They will refer you to your doctor-liability being what it is and the fact that they aren't specifically trained in obstetrics. I'd put in a quick call to the doctor. Better safe than sorry.
