Question Dutch bob vs. French bob

Do you know the difference between a "French bob" and a "Dutch bob"?
Have you perhaps also got photos which show the difference?

Thank you

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

I didn't even know there was different styles of the bob. Well except the blunt bob and the shaggy bob.
I tried to google it, but came up with nothing. Sorry, I will keep looking.

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

The only things I found while searching was a 'dutch bob' wig:

And two for 'french bob':
(from the movie Amelie...)
And this one:

Which don't look much like each other...

Perhaps you mean french and dutch braid?

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

I thought a Dutch bob had thick brow length bangs. I've never heard of a French bob.

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

I believe the Dutch bob is what Buster Brown, and therefore an entire generation of children, wore, with thick bangs cut straight across and straight cut ends about jaw length.
French bobs would have angled sides and possibly no bangs.
However, a beautician should know; we must have some here who will answer soon.

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

They're possibly terms specific to a particular reigion - I trained as a hairdresser, and those aren't terms I've come across, *but* I'm in the UK.

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

Well that brings back memories I had the bob in the first picture with the really short bit cut at the back and everything I hated it and it looked awful on me

Re: Dutch bob vs. French bob

A dutch Bob is similar to what you'd see on Louise Brooks. Its a very short, blunt haircut. Think... Dutch Boy...

I think a French Bob is longer, and doesn't necessarily involve bangs, could be a little layered, and could be an A-line... Think of a 1920s Flapper.

...

I'd caution you going into a salon and using "fancy slang" to describe the style you want. You may leave with something quite different from what you though you asked for.
