After seeing them on prayercoverings.com I am still very clueless as to how I would use them to put my hair up in an "updo" or bun. can someone please iif possible provide pictures or really good directions on how to use them? Thank you! | | | November 26th, 2005, 10:10 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: GVA, BC, Canada Age: 39 Posts: 4,279 Length: 63cm/65/76cm+ Type: 2c/3a/F/ii | I just ordered some myself. . Can't wait to try 'em out. | | | November 26th, 2005, 10:21 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Upendi Age: 28 Posts: 1,748 Length: 15"/31.5"/45" Type: 1c/2a/M/i | I just use them like mini hair forks ... weave it in ... if I do it this way I only have to use one or two. If I use them like bobby pins (just sliding it in) I need to use more, but both ways hold great | | | November 27th, 2005, 05:53 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Kansas Age: 31 Posts: 209 Length: 21/22.25/31 Type: 1b/M/iii | My hair is slick and straight, so I weave them in and out a little, like rawtoast described. My friend's hair is really curly and she just slides them right in! It kinda takes a try or two to see what works best on your hair, but they're great for holding! I've got a group order going right now, if you want to get in on it (I'm probably going to have to close it tomorrow, though). | | | November 27th, 2005, 06:38 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2005 Location: California Age: 54 Posts: 1,404 Length: shldr/clsic/frtip Type: 2c/M/ii | Besides weaving them in, only other advice I have is to turn the pins. Like for a bun, grab the edge of the bun with your pin, angle outward (away from bun) just a tiny bit, grab a bit of scalp hair, then turn the pin and aim in back toward the middle of your bun. When you weave it in, try to alternate grabbing a bit of bun hair, then a bit of scalp hair, etc. Works best for me if I angle it down toward scalp at the end. I have thin and slippery hair; I guess, thick, coarse, curlies have a totally different technique! I was actually able to put my hair up and keep it up with 2-3 pins. That has NEVER happened before. Good luck! __________________ Just had my head shaved and have to start over again. Will it still be possible to put my hair in a bun using the amish hair pins? | | | November 27th, 2005, 07:07 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Kansas Age: 31 Posts: 209 Length: 21/22.25/31 Type: 1b/M/iii | Yes, with practice. My hair is shorter than yours, with layers, and I have mine up right now. I've been using these pins since Feb since I couldn't get bobbies to hold my hair very well (it was cut to my chin at the beginning of this year) and I needed it up. I reenact the 1870's and my hair had to be up. | | | November 27th, 2005, 07:10 AM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Age: 31 Posts: 410 Length: 15 /24/40 Type: 1c/2a/M/ii/iii | Re: Amish hair pins | | Thanks lilsis! i will order them today! | | | November 27th, 2005, 07:17 AM | #10 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Kansas Age: 31 Posts: 209 Length: 21/22.25/31 Type: 1b/M/iii | The owner of prayercoverings.com is a good friend of mine, so I can def. reccomend her site if that's where you're going! The regular pins just can't hold my hair's weight. __________________ journal thigh length | | | November 27th, 2005, 07:54 AM | #14 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Age: 31 Posts: 410 Length: 15 /24/40 Type: 1c/2a/M/ii/iii | For those of you who have them already, I'm going to order them by check. How long does it take to arrive? | | | November 27th, 2005, 09:39 AM | #15 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Colorado Age: 48 Posts: 537 Type: 2c/F/M/ii | I ordered some too, haven't heard a word from them. for those of you that have ordered is that common? I have never dealt with a seller who doesn't at least send a note saying they received the order. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
