Wow, 2 months ago, I would have sworn you MUST shampoo and condition.. lol Thanks so much LHC! Tonight I used Swave's Passion Flower Conditioner, I know, it has cones, but I'm not sure where I really stand about them... My hair just feels and smells wonderful .. It seemed an odd and strange concept when I first read about it, but now that I have done it, I cannot imagine subjecting my hair to harsh shampoo again. You sound just like me when I first discovered CO. I stopped using shampoo in August, and haven't looked back since! | | | November 19th, 2005, 04:30 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: NYC Age: 43 Posts: 100 Length: 20"/BSL/?? The only shampoo I've used in the past year is Trader Joe's Nourish Shampoo, which is sulfate-free, and even that I'll use only 1-2x per month. I love CO - I've even started giving my curly-haired six-year-old daughter CO washes. Cleans her hair beautifully, and leaves her hair twice as soft, since she has untouched, 'virgin' hair. __________________ ~Michelle~ | | | November 19th, 2005, 09:47 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Meet me in St. Louis, Louis, meet me at the fair / Don't tell me the lights are shining any place but there Posts: 3,088 Length: 19/NFI/32+ Type: 1c/2a/F/M/iii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | I agree that LHC rocks! | | | November 19th, 2005, 10:10 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Western Australia Age: 28 Posts: 222 Length: 24/23/Hip Type: 2a/2b/M/ii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | I love CO too. When I first met my b/f, who has short really curly hair, I was pretty shocked to find out that he didnt use shampoo on his hair. I actually though that there was no way you could get it clean without shampoo. But after reading about CO here, and trying it myself, Im so impressed! | | | November 19th, 2005, 11:04 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2005 Posts: 165 Length: 12"/34.5"/oo Type: 1c/M/i | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | I have a question about CO hair washes, and I hope you don't mind me asking - I'm not trying to hijack the thread. My hair is normally a little frizzy after washing with shampoo's, but settles down the following day or so as it's natural oils return. My question is, would I benefit from CO hair washes? Sorry for asking. | | | November 20th, 2005, 01:22 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: City of Blinding Lights, NY Posts: 391 Length: 30.25/33/42 + Type: 1b/1c/F/ii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | DesM - we're about the same hair type, and yes, I find that with CO my hair is a lot less frizzy. Even on the really humid days, it's much tamer than it used to be on those days. I'd say it's worth trying! CO usually works really well for wavy or curly hair, probably for similar reasons. And I always describe my hair as doing everything wavy hair does, except the actual waving. And I think this was an okay kind of hijack, because it's still on topic. Generally, it's better to ask a question on a current thread, rather than starting a whole new one on the same subject. | | | November 20th, 2005, 07:31 AM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: CA Age: 47 Posts: 164 Length: 20/33/38 Type: 2a/2b/F/ii/iii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | Quote: | Originally Posted by Moorglade Jinn And I think this was an okay kind of hijack, because it's still on topic. I know that I have read about how long to leave in the conditioner, but I cannot find it. (Ever try doing a search on CO...It just kinda hangs) I want to try CO, but I am not sure how long I should leave the conditioner on. I recently found V05 SKR and I thought that it was a good one for CO, but I don't want to get out of the shower and find out that I didn't leave it on long enough. So, can someone give me a better idea of how long I should leave it on? Thanks!! __________________ Recent hair pic, taken in the sun | | | November 20th, 2005, 08:15 AM | #10 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: New Jersey Age: 23 Posts: 473 Length: rmpit/BSL/knee Type: 3a/M/ii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | Quote: | Originally Posted by Sunshine_CA Ok based on that theory, I have a question. Thanks!! | Some people leave the conditioner on their hair for 15-20 mins and some leave it on for as long as 30-45 mins (like me ) Co washes take this long to do because the mild surfacants need more time to clean your hair than shampoo, which uses harsh sulfates. Anyway, HTH and Good luck! kt | | | November 20th, 2005, 08:18 AM | #11 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Age: 29 Posts: 36 Type: 1b/1c/F/M/ii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | In the "Articles" section, there's a "How-to" for CO washing. The author just said to keep the conditioner in your hair and your hair out of the way while you're doing "other stuff", and take your hair out again at the end of the shower. You can do a search for the article if you want details. To Blondie: Hello fellow SWEU fan. I'm glad the CO worked for you! I tried it last night as well, but for me it was mostly a neutral experience... I didn't come out any worse off than I was when I went in, which is an improvement on the usual | | | November 20th, 2005, 11:43 AM | #12 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2005 Location: North Carolina Age: 44 Posts: 168 Length: 15"/24"/ Type: 2c/F/ii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | I love doing co as well. I didn't think it'd work at first, but I'm a believer now. I've doing it for over a month now. My hair is softer than its been in years. And it is curlier now as well. | | | November 20th, 2005, 11:58 AM | #13 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Indiana Age: 44 Posts: 135 Length: 17/17.5/BSL Type: 1b/F/i | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | Would a person know right after the first attempt if CO works for them? Just to share with those less familiar, this is my method: I generally leave the conditioner on for at least 30-60 minutes. I start with dry hair - it works better for me that way. Then when I'm ready to wash it out, I just pop my head under the water for about 10 seconds, then massage my scalp with my fingertips until I work up the foaming action all over my scalp. Then I add a richer conditioner to my ends, carefully comb through my hair with the seamless shower comb, and rinse well. I love how soft and non-flyaway it leaves my hair. I've tried VO5 Tangerine Tickle and Suave Waterfall Mist so far, and both work equally well. However, after the 2nd CO in a row, I notice a white residue on my comb, so I do a diluted shampoo for the next wash, which means I'm down to shampooing once a week or less, and it doesn't take much shampoo - just a little squirt in about 8 oz of warm water, shaken well. My hair is responding very well. __________________ April 30, 2007 | | | November 20th, 2005, 12:02 PM | #15 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2005 Location: North Carolina Age: 44 Posts: 168 Length: 15"/24"/ Type: 2c/F/ii | | Re: I CO'ed and my hair loves it! | | Quote: | Originally Posted by laurie_lu Would a person know right after the first attempt if CO works for them? Now I do it every other day. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
