I guess I should clear it up a bit. I don't clarify as often as I suggested above, but then again I don't use styling products. I clarify as often as I think I need it or I think about doing it  I haven't used styling products like sprays, gels, or mousses in several years but I do sometimes use a leave in conditioner, an oil, or a silicone glossing product. I clarify (with Neutrogena antiresidue, which is rather drying) when my scalp gets too itchy/oily. That works out to be about monthly.

When my regular shampoo quits working, one or two washes with Neutrogena will remove the oily gunk from my scalp and restore it to normal.
