Type: 2a/2b/M/ii | | What type of leave-in do you use? | | OK, I've searched and found polls about whether or not we use leave-ins, but did not find one specifically about type. I'm debating my own need for a "conditioner" leave-in after a few weeks of straight shea butter bliss. So, just what do you leave in your hair after you wash? Feel free to post comments. __________________ | | | November 15th, 2005, 06:48 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Meet me in St. Louis, Louis, meet me at the fair / Don't tell me the lights are shining any place but there Posts: 3,088 Length: 19/NFI/32+ Type: 1c/2a/F/M/iii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I picked the all-powerful cheese answer. I use Dove's Smooth & Soft Anti-Frizz Cream, in all its synthetic-y goodness. | | | November 15th, 2005, 07:09 PM | #3 | | Moderator Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Eastern US Age: 35 Posts: 3,613 Length: waist/cls/cls Type: 2a/2b/M/C/iii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I voted no leave-in, but sometimes I have residual EVOO from my prewash oiling left in. (It's actually not bad on DD1 hair but makes my DD2 hair kind of weird.) Also, I used to have very good results from not rinsing out all of my conditioner (Neutrogena Clean conditioner, lots of cones). Since I try not to touch my hair or rake anything through it while it's wet, my leave-ins are limited to stuff I didn't wash out thoroughly. --physicschick | | | November 15th, 2005, 07:13 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Kentucky, USA, Planet Earth Age: 48 Posts: 893 Length: 14/33/36 Type: 1b/M/C/iii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | My hubby's favorite, Mane "n Tail, can be used either as a rinse-out or as a leave-in. I cannot use his Mane 'n Tail 'poo or 'dish on a regular basis, but when I need a leave-in, it fills the bill. | | | November 15th, 2005, 07:18 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Japan Age: 40 Posts: 516 Length: Pixie/30.7"/33.5" Type: 1b/F/M/ii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I use different things at different times. Sometimes I use jojoba with aloe vera gel, sometimes a leave in conditioner. At the moment I'm using Humectress with excellent results although I also have some Paul Mitchell The Conditioner which I like, The Body Shop Amlika leave-in and a couple of Pantene products which I'm taking a rest from at the moment. __________________ (Mostly) Hair Journal Photos Current length: waist length First goal length: hip length at the front and tailbone at the back | | | November 15th, 2005, 07:51 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: California Age: 31 Posts: 426 Length: 22/28.75/Waist Type: 2b/M/C/ii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | Half the time I don't use a leave-in and the other half of the time I put Jojoba in my hair. | | | November 15th, 2005, 08:47 PM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: South Africa Age: 40 Posts: 1,387 Length: 24/23/42 Type: 2b/2c/F/M/ii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I use a leave in of EVOO with Lavender and Tea Tree in it - I usually mix it with a bit of aloe and glycerine. I use it as a leave in and as and when I need it between washes. __________________ Hugs from Sunny South Africa - MerryKat WO (in some form) since April 2006 - 100% since April 2007 A Member of the No Trimming Club - April 07 to May 2008 | | | November 15th, 2005, 08:59 PM | #8 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2005 Age: 50 Posts: 1,920 Length: 23.5/24.5/30 Type: 1c/2a/F/ii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | Like Chocolate Locks, I use different things at different times. I have a spray bottle filled with water and a couple teaspoons of rinse-out condish and a few drops of jojoba & EOs that I use when my ends feel dry (which is just about every day.) I occasionally use Garnier's anti frizz therapy, which is a leave-in. __________________ Visit my journal! It seems that everything is too heavy. I have a lot of hair but its fine in texture.. | | | November 15th, 2005, 09:31 PM | #10 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Idaho Age: 44 Posts: 476 Length: ears/38.00/55 Type: 1b/1c/F/M/ii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I am in absolute love with my shea butter, but sometimes I'll use EVOO instead (like on especially hot, dry days). I've been putting shea butter on my 4-year-old DD, and she loves it, too. It makes her hair much easier to detangle. (And when you have a 4 year old who has hair long enough to sit on, detangling is a Real Big Issue.) | | | November 15th, 2005, 09:53 PM | #11 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: USA Posts: 124 Length: 14.5/29.25/39 Type: 1b/M/C/ii/iii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I use shea butter about every other day. I tried oils, but they didn't do anything for my hair except make it crunchy. | | | November 15th, 2005, 10:02 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Here, rather than there. I have recently discovered that rinse-out conditioners build up on me and leave me with problems. That said, I have gone without for a while now, and my hair is doing better. Eventually I plan on trying some jojoba, perhaps aloe gel once again and shea butter. Not sure I will end up with anything, though, as my hair is also fine and weighs down easily. I will be back to vote when I settle on something. __________________ A visit with friends makes for great hair! Sometimes I end with a tea rinse and then don't add anything else, sometimes I use a bit of Aloe as a leave in. Both works fine (some tangles on the tea) but I will continue to experiment. | | | November 16th, 2005, 03:07 AM | #14 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2005 Location: Somewhere over the rainbow Posts: 2,357 Length: 3"/25.6"/41" Type: 2b/2c/F/i/ii | | Re: What type of leave-in do you use? | | I voted regular leave-in. I can't survive without leave-ins, otherwise I look like carrot top. I have super fine hair and have just converted to Giovanni ( as my siggy says) Great stuff! And for the other super fine hairs, I water it down in a spray bottle- 2oz water to 1 tsp. direct leave-in and whalla! Detangler and moisture for those ends. I do like to spritz with flower waters through out the day as well. | | | November 16th, 2005, 03:56 AM | #15 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2005 Age: 62 Posts: 2,407 Length: 27.5/waist/term. The next morning, when everything is dry, I oil. So my ends are well fed. __________________ Reached first goal of waist length (pulled straight), on April 28, 2006. Next mini-goal: Hip.
