I stumbled upon it when I was searching for an updo for my older brothers engagment party. It is already getting too hot here for me to leave my hair down. I have been reading all of your posts and trying to figure out how you guys use your products. I have been growing my hair out since a hairstylist (who was supposed to be doing a trim gave me a GI Jane cut --- it was horrible. It is now just below shoulder length and I'll get some pics on as soon as I know how. Question: What do you guys do with the oils? Jojoba etc. I get a really oily scalp after 1.5 days and can't seem to figure out how to get rid of that without exposing all of my head to the rest of it. Currently, I'm using Bumble & Bumble alajoba (sp?) shampoo and a neutrogena but would really welcome new ideas... I did the hairtyping thing but I can't find the code. I have pretty straight, normal texture and thick... 'Look forward to getting to know you guys! tex | | | June 1st, 2003, 06:00 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: San Antonio, Texas Age: 52 Posts: 3,082 Length: 30/42/? Type: 1b/M/ii/iii | Welcome to the group! It's a fun and informative gang we have here. Use the oil on only the ends of your hair, and use just a little. I hld my hand over the bottle, tip it, then turn it back over. It leaves a small circle of oil on my hand which I then rub into my other palm and then onto the ends of my hair. How often do you wash you hair? My hair is oily too, and I had to gradually move my wash day back until now I'm at 6 days. I live in Texas too (San Antonio for me) so I know what you mean about it being too hot for any hair down. I'll most likely be washing with more frequency because my scalp sweats and to keep the hair clean. As for products, check out the Products board. We use a multitude of products here and often switch. Some of the group have been raving about Kenra, Morrocco Method, and GM products. I've forgotten what else is popular, I try not to listen to them and succomb to the enticement of a new product. Well, I don't know if I helped but I'm sure some of the shoulder length gals will give you some better advice. Welcome again.! __________________ Sometimes, I do like to push buttons. Sorry I can't help with your oil question, my hair hates oils. Regarding "new ideas" I recommend trying a C/O wash, that's pretty much the best thing I ever did for my hair (apart from wearing it up most of the time). __________________ Cheers, Madeleine, G.F.T.G. *g* Fontaine de Vaucluse, France, October 2004 | | | June 1st, 2003, 09:20 AM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 2,164 | Hi Tex! As mentioned before, I put a small amount of jojoba oil from the ears down, about 2 nights a week, then leave it on overnight. This is a great place, stick around! __________________ Just at bra strap... | | | June 1st, 2003, 12:31 PM | #15 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 43 | Welcome! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
