YEAH! | | I just had to mention this since there are a lot of us here who sew... I get my new Bernina Artista 180 today! Complete with laptop and a bunch of goodies that my girlfriend's mom had with it. Here is a link of a picture that is I think the same type of machine: http://www.gochange.net/ItemPictures/P24333_1.jpg I simply cannot wait to play! | | | October 3rd, 2005, 05:52 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Reno, NV Age: 54 Posts: 1,226 Type: 1c/M/ii | | Re: I get my new Bernina Today! YEAH! | | Wow! You will have to keep us updated on how it works for you. I am particularly interested in how easy or hard it is to figure out. Also how well you like the computerised part of it. It looks good but I am wondering if it is too complicated for me and if I would be behaving like this with it. Daneille | Daneille, the machines are not as complicated as they appear to be. One thing that I can tell you is that the Bernina dealer near you will have classes for you to learn how to get the most out of your machine, if you choose to get one. I already have a Viking Husquavarna #1, (not the #1+ which actually does the computer hook up though ) and I adore sewing and embroidery with her. This new machine is the type that you can actually scan in pics to your computer, and then digitize to the machine and embroider directly onto the fabric. It is not that difficult to do with the Bernina, and the manuals are great for both machines. I will post some *play* stuff when I have had a few days to play with the new machine. Jeez! Can you tell I am soooooo Excited! | | | October 3rd, 2005, 06:40 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Paradise Garage Age: 56 Posts: 6,570 Length: 17"/hip/bc Type: 1b/1c/M/iii | | Re: I get my new Bernina Today! The very first internet forum I subbed to was the Bernina Fan Club in the mid 90's. Not sure if it's still active, but the website is still there: http://www.quilt.com/Bernina/Bernina.html Great for learning all the neat things Berninas can do, best settings, what feet/accessories to get, maintenance, and for asking for help if something doesn't go quite as you'd like, etc. The owner was (is?) a Bernina dealer and the info shared between the members was excellent. YEAH! | | Thanks everyone for sharing my joy with me! I got her home, and pulled her out of the fancy carrying case, that holds the embroidery arm, and machine. This thing is really cool, it is like a rollin suitcase that holds everything! I also booted up the laptop and it runs well. I think I am going to have to get a new battery for it, but that still is up in the air. Until then I do have the power cord and that will suffice. I got soooooo many cards with this machine, I think I may add some extra money to what I am paying for her, as I know that each of the cards is at least $100, and I got several that are not even opened yet. Along with that, a zip drive and a dozen or so disks, which are all pretty full I think, and another 15 or so CDs with designs too. Oh, and let's not forget the tutorial CDs that were with it as well. All in all, I think I am going to really LOVE this machine. I simply cannot wait to get her hooked all up and learn how to use her! *trying to calm down a bit from being so excited...having a hard time knowing I cannot set her up til Friday at least... | | | October 4th, 2005, 02:16 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: United States Age: 62 Posts: 1,327 Length: 6-8"/34¾"/Class Type: 1a/F/ii | | Re: I get my new Bernina Today! YEAH! | | Congratulations! It sounds like a very nice piece of equipment you've got there, Rhainy! I bought a demo Janome 9000 a couple of years ago for a good price. Janome has discontinued that model and while its far from the latest thing, I have found it to be quite a step up from my 1972 Kenmore! Enjoy your toy, dear. And surely you can sneak in a little time between now and Friday? __________________ But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her.
