Type: 1a/F/ii | | How do you feel about your SO using your brush/comb... | | I was just wondering if I'm the only person that doesn't like my DH to use my bbb and combs. He likes to use alot of gel in his hair and since I don't use anything like that I hate seeing dried gel goop on my brushes and combs when I go to use them I've talked to him very nicely about this and explained my reason but he still thinks it's silly of me. He figures since we share everything else my brushes are his brushes. So, am I being wierd about this or do other people see their hair care tools as being off limits for sharing? __________________ Mamacat 1aFii | | | April 10th, 2003, 03:25 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: North Coast Posts: 743 | I think you have a good reason why you would prefer him to not use yours. Would he understand if you explained it to him? My wife and rarely share, since we each have our own. She has curly hair, so our needs are different. (We sometimes share a wide-tooth comb for detangling, especially if we're traveling.) Talk to your husband. If he likes the type of brushes and combs you use....you know what you can give him as special gift __________________ What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about? ??/1 yard/?? | | | April 10th, 2003, 03:49 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: puget sound washington state Posts: 508 | i once got really mad when my bf used my kent comb to comb his mustache/beard, especially when i asked him not to first, and he ignored me. so no, you are not alone! i did share my brushes with him cause he doesn't put any goo in his hair, but i don't think you're off base to want yours all to yourself. i'm not really into sharing my toothbrush with my family members either, although we share other things, so it's ok to have limits, imo. | | | April 10th, 2003, 03:55 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Maryland Age: 29 Posts: 495 Length: 14/16/41 Type: 1c/C/iii | It wouldn't bother me if Chris used my brushes....that is, if he had enough hair to brush ......it bothers me when my sister uses my brush when I'm at home though, and this was when I was using cheap brushes that were doing nothing for my hair...because she puts a lot of gunk in her hair....most recently egg whites....and that puts the stuff in my brush.....I haven't had any gel or mousse in my hair for about two years now.....but, no it wouldn't bother me if he used them... in fact, when his hair was a little longer (long enough to brush) I used to brush it for him with my brush... but I understand why you wouldn't want him to __________________ *~Starting Over From Scratch (March 31, 2006)~* buzzcut--14' measuring from hairline/20/Tailbone ~Journal~ ~Pictures~ | | | April 10th, 2003, 04:01 PM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Vermont, USA Age: 44 Posts: 299 Length: 19"/45"/48" Type: 2c/3a/M/ii/iii | Well, my husband doesn't use any sort of styling products either....so, I don't have a problem with him using them. However, he does have a tendancy to hoarde/hide them, and I do have a problem with getting up in the morning and finding that every comb in the house has disappeared. __________________ Starting point (1998 ): 19 inches Current length: 45 inches Current goal: 48 inches with blunted ends 2c in back/3a in the front Medium 3.5 inches Ponytail circumference | | | April 10th, 2003, 04:14 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Southern California Posts: 3,957 Length: 36"/52¾"/50" Type: 1c/2a/C/iii | I don't mind when other people in the house use my brush. People around here don't really put a lot of gunk in their hair. If anything bugs me, it's when my daughter uses it and then doesn't put it back. She has a b-a-d habit of doing that with my things! Besides he doesn't use anything on his hair other than monoi or jojoba oil occasionally I also barely mind when my long haired daughter uses my brushes and combs (and ficcares, hairstix, barrettes, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc--but hey, I get to wear her clothes and shoes). She does have to be sure to put them all back so I can find them! But when I find my sons using my brushes, I do mind! WEll, actually, I only mind my older sons using my stuff. I personally use my brushes on my little sons so I guess I don't mind them using them. Nobody in my house uses any serious goop in their hair so I really don't mind.......as long as I can find them where I expect them to be! ;-) __________________ | | | April 10th, 2003, 07:52 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Nelson, BC Posts: 371 Length: 19/37.5/? We had that talk when we first got married, he kept using my brush, comb, and sometimes would make a mistake and use my tooth brush! Big giant EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! :what: Um...I put a stop to that right away, although sometimes, early in the morning when he hasn't had his coffee yet, I catch him with the wrong tooth brush  No. He has his own brush, I bought it for him | | | April 10th, 2003, 10:17 PM | #14 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: oxfordshire uk Age: 32 Posts: 1,653 Length: 21"/40"/43"cl Type: 1b/F/ii/iii | i dont like my bf using my hair brushes etc. when i first met him i found he was part of the dirty brush brigade. i know lots of dbb members. im sure you all do too. you know the ones with the little lumps of grey scuz attached to the bottom of each brush prong. yuck knowing that all that came from his hair makes me cringe at the thaught of him using my brushes. his hair is real short now so no brush is needed im happier that way. | | | April 11th, 2003, 01:02 AM | #15 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 413 | Personally I actively encourage my SO to use my hair stuff. He has long, fragile, fine hair, and it gets ratty very quickly if it isn't cared for properly, and I figure I'm never going to get him to buy his own good stuff so he might as well use mine I do, however, get very cross with other people using my hair stuff - I don't know what they might have on their hair, and I don't want gel (or anything worse LOL!) wrecking my lovely horn, wood and bristle tools. So I understand where you are coming from... __________________ chin length / 43 7/8" / 45" 1AiiF Oily roots, fine, fragile, flyaway length Golden brown | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
