It sounds like a reaction to the shampoo, particularly if it is always the same shampoo at the friends house.

What shampoo do you use? Do you switch? It may help to track which shampoos you use, which cause problems, and which are good. Then, look at ingredients, and find out what ingredients are common to the problem shampoos but not in the good shampoos.

It also may help to rinse very well - make sure no shampoo residue is left behind. This can be done easily by combing out her hair when conditioned, after shampooing, and then continuing to comb as you rinse, so that the comb separates the hair and lets the water reach through it to the scalp.

If you have been using SLS/SLES shampoo, ALS/ALES may rinse cleaner. If you have been using ALS/ALES shampoo, an SLS/SLES may be less irritating. (See the link to an article in my sig.)

Re: daughter scalp help

I would definitely find out what the friends house is using and look up the ingredients of both that and the stuff you have.

Check to see if maybe the friend has something for another hair type such as a dandruff shampoo or something for oily hair. Whatever you can find out would be helpful.

Re: daughter scalp help

It might be an allergy if it always happen when she stays at her friend's house. It also looks a bit like a dermatitis.

To relieve extra-dry scalp, you can massage it with oils. Avocado works well.
