Essential oils for hair loss and shedding -- Meg's Method

I have lost about 1/3 of my hair over the last five years due to hormonal and stress related shedding. I accidentally stumbled over this formula to reduce shedding and reverse hair loss. I have been using it since late August of 2004. My shedding is completely stopped and my hair thickness is returning. My hair feels stronger and healthier than it has since my teen years. Here is my formula.

1/2 teaspoon of Chrome Dome essential oil blend
4oz of Carrier oil -- Emu, Jojoba, Camellia, or any deep penetrating oil
10 drops of Thyme
10 drops of Sage -- Dalmation or Clary

Mix these all together and put in a 4 to 6 ounce processing bottle from a beauty supply store. I got one at Sally's with a pointed applicator nozzel. Use this oil daily on your scalp at night. Message in well and brush it through the length for overall conditioning. Wash it out in the morning. It may take two washings to get it all out. Condition as usual and dry. When shedding has stopped use this once to twice a week to keep the scalp healthy and the shedding at bay. It will take about six months but you will notice new growth and the thickness returning.

I use the Emu oil as I have found it to be the best for this purpose, but Jojoba does work also. I have also put the blend in Ayurverda oils with good results.

The Thyme and Sage oil can be omitted, but I do use them. Maurine from Everyday Henna told me to also use Spikenard from Nepal, but I have not bought any of that yet.

Chrome Dome can be found here: http://www.essentialwholesale.com/sh...l+Oil+Bl ends Scroll down to find it. It use to be called Hair Thinning Oil, but they changed the name to Chrome Dome.

Good luck to all who try this recipe. It has saved my hair when I felt like giving up.

Meg

Chrome Dome is a blend of these oils. It is pure essential oils. I just wanted to clear that up as it could be confussing. To buy it this way is a big savings as opposed to buying them all seperate.

Re: Essential oils for hair loss and shedding -- Meg's Method

I just checked this product out, and the price looks pretty good, even factoring in shipping. Around here, I pay at least $5 for a 1/2 oz bottle if you figure in tax, or about $10/oz. For about $35 including shipping, this Chrome Dome stuff is actually cheaper, and I don't have to traipse all over town spending gas money hunting down what I need.

When I get the funds, I'm definitely giving it a try! I just spent my hair-care monthly allowance on a 32 oz bottle of Hobacare jojoba oil that I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of. A bottle of jojoba oil, a bottle of Chrome Dome... sounds like an ideal match!

Meg, I'm wondering what this smells like. Is it stinky?
Thanks,

Well, I don't think it is stinky, but I've been know to like odd things such as the way henna and indigo smell. To me it smells herby. The top note in it is the Cyprus which I like the smell of.

That sounds OK. I was thinking of DH who complains at times about the smell of my hair. I use henna too and do herb washes. Unfortunately for him they don't smell like Pantene. I love lavender EO but he doesn't really like that either.

Re: Essential oils for hair loss and shedding -- Meg's Method

The blend I made has a pleasantly herbal-y smell, not bad at all, really. Not especially intense, either, once you blend it into the carrier oil.

The Jessicurl blend has peppermint, which I found a tad annoying over time.

Meg! Girlfiend! Thank You! I ordered some of the Chrome Dome and added it to the Emu oil as you suggested, I didn't add the Thyme and Sage but instead used Seabuckthorn oil, so here's what is happening, after my huge shed a few months ago my hair hadn't budged from 32" in months, I was getting sad because I thought OK I'm at terminal, well after using this for the last couple of months I have so much new growth coming in { all silver this time!} that I really do have a CHROMEDOME! ANNNNNND when I measured today I am at 34 inches! YEEEEEEHAAAAAA!!!!! Off to change my siggy!
THANK YOU!!!!!!

Thanks so much for posting this, Meg.

Sheryl, wow, those are some great results! How long have you been using the mixture? Are you using it daily, and do you leave it on for 1-2 hours, like Meg mostly does?

Sheryle, that's great! I'm so happy for you. I've noticed pretty much the same thing. It's been nine months now for me and I have not had anymore shedding. I too have lots and lots of little hairs all over my head. In fact I am getting rather wooly. I hope it makes it on down my length to fill in there. I don't know if the new hairs are gray as I use henna and indigo monthly, but it would be interesting to know if they were.

Meg
Sorry for the dual thread posts! I didn't realize I was on the recipe board at first, anyhoo, I don't see how this could not affect my pony, when all these silvers make it down to where I can include them in the measure, I am in a constant state of wonderment these days, for 43 years of my life I've thought that terminal for me was just below shoulder and now here I am 5 years into playing the game by longhair rules and I'm only 3 to 4 inches from tailbone, it's like....OK I'll say it, a miracle. One I prayed for many years for!
By next summer I am going to be the happiest of all campers! Shoot I already am! if I hit my utimate goal, which I thought was some impossible dream when I first wrote it, that's just more gravy!

Re: Essential oils for hair loss and shedding -- Meg's Method

Meg, thank you for posting this. I have PCOS and it's really gone untreated and one of the symptoms is thinning hair so i've been taking Saw Palmetto. I will definitely try this. Can't thank you enough!
