My skin felt nice (not tight) and looked pretty and glowy, and little plugs were coming out all over the place. Now, a week later, the area all around my nose is redder and bumpier than it's ever been (I've never really have what could be considered an acne problem, just an occasional zit and a few blackheads), and the skin on my nose is quite literally coming off in chunks. Gross white chunks. Um... help? | | | March 24th, 2005, 07:04 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: The beautiful Pacific Northwest Age: 30 Posts: 100 Length: 22/23/35 Type: 2c/F/M/ii | Yikes That sounds pretty awful! I dont really have much experience with this...I recently started ocm with evoo.... How often are you doing it? I found that I get the best results by skipping at least 1 day between. One thing I remember from the thread about "how" to ocm was to make sure that you steam/wash off all the first oil you put on your face, as it picks up any dirt or bacteria you have on your face, and if it's not cleaned all the way off it will sit the nasty stuff in your pores. I hope you have better luck with this....I would take a break from it to see if you clear up...just to rule out any hormonal changes etc. Also it's possible it's just not for you. HOpefully someone more knowledgeable can tell you <3 Lorissa | | | March 24th, 2005, 07:05 PM | #3 | | Moderator Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Portland, OR, USA Age: 35 Posts: 5,515 Length: 52/64.5/66 Type: 2a/2b/C/iii | Have you changed washcloths recently? Also, what kind of oils are you using? | | | March 24th, 2005, 07:42 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: San Antonio Age: 34 Posts: 326 | Quote: | Originally Posted by Dianyla Have you changed washcloths recently?
| Speaking of that, I bought packs of baby washcloths and use a fresh one everyday. I have a whole pile of them and just grab one before my shower... I was using a cloth over and over for my face, but I noticed that my skin got a LOT worse when I was doing that. | | | March 25th, 2005, 05:28 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Denmark Posts: 2,463 Length: 0,0/39,4/More! I’m afraid I can’t be any help about the last part but for the first part Quote: | Originally Posted by getoffmyskittle Now, a week later, the area all around my nose is redder and bumpier than it's ever been | I had the same thing. It seems like a single OCM pisses my skin of, but if I do a double OCM it loves it! I just repeat the OCM process twice and my skin is happy and glowing Massage oil in, steam, massage, scrape off oil with this thingy I got at a dermatologist once, and wash off excess oil. Repeat process I have no clue why, but it helps | | | March 25th, 2005, 01:34 PM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jan 2005 Age: 23 Posts: 1,500 Type: 2a/2b/C/ii/iii | I'm using an almond/EVOO mix, and I change the washcloth once every couple days. I've stopped OCMing, and my nose seems to be healing pretty well. I'm not worried about the redness/bumpiness around my nose, because that was probably all the yucky stuff coming to the surface, but I don't understand the whole bits of my nose coming off in chunks thing. It really looked like dry skin peeling, but I KNOW my skin wasn't dry. | | | March 31st, 2005, 11:51 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Canada Posts: 3,467 Length: 19.5/26?/?? Just a few days ago, maybe the day I read your post, I got the same nose peeling!!! Weird! I kept oil cleansing, but started doing it twice as igor suggested, and the skin healed. I hope yours has healed too. I still have no insight on what it could be....but I do know that my skin was dry still at that point. It is almost completely normal now though, with just a tiny dry area near my mouth. More recently(last night), I added castor oil to my evoo, and after a cleansing my face feels extremely clean. Similar to the tight feeling after soaping...but not....very hard to explain. It's not bad at all, and feels smooth, silky, looks glowy...but very clean and not greasy at all. wishing you skin health, lorissa | | | April 2nd, 2005, 10:18 AM | #9 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Denmark Posts: 2,463 Length: 0,0/39,4/More! I figured that when I was doing just one treatment, I was scrubbing pretty hard with the washcloth after steaming, just to make sure all the "bad oil" got cleaned off. Now I'm much more gentle, knowing that the second time around will make sure everything is well-dissolve and wiped away. I think I was over-exfoliating and drying-out/irritating the skin when I did it only once, but that may have just been my experience. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
