I was doing a search on various oils for hair (i think i can feel an obsession coming on) and i saw this oil mentioned so i looked into it a bit and it sounds interesting http://www.boroughmarket.org.uk/subs...ildwoodgroves/ Also one of the sites that gives information on it mentioned that by buying it you are helping to preserve an endangered tree species | | | February 27th, 2005, 12:36 PM | #2 | | Moderator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: In the closet with Mothra Posts: 6,122 Length: 26"/33.5"/39.5" Type: 2b/F/ii | I've never heard of it, but I found out that it is a close relative to shea, so it might be very good on hair. Let us know if you try it! __________________ The Big Question oil: Japanese camellia shampoo: Earthly Delight leave-in: Shea It Ain't So treatments: cassia; Phytologie Phytomoelle avatar: Una and the Lion ~Briton Rivière | | | February 27th, 2005, 04:21 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2004 Posts: 487 Length: ??/22/30 Type: 1c/2a/M/ii/iii | Yes, I use this oil. I bought mine coldpressed and organic from exoticaoils.com It is also available from gardenofwisdom.com in much smaller quanities. It is a very nice oil that smells like walnuts. It is one of the basics in rosa y fruta skin care line. If you go to rosayfruta.com you can read more about it. I made a spritz with rose hydrosol and the argan oil and I really loved it. I've never tried sweet almond oil but sounds rather similar in that I think both are really nice moisturizing oils. I think the oil must be lighter than jojoba as the jojoba tends to weigh my hair down. In terms of goats climbing, when i lived in France we had goats and they get EVERYWHERE, they are really miscevious! but yeah, they often climb up things to get to something they want, one of them was a bit dim and used to steal my dad's ciggies from his mouth, only she got a bit of a shock from it cos the lit end would be in her mouth! | | | February 28th, 2005, 05:43 PM | #10 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2004 Posts: 487 Length: ??/22/30 Type: 1c/2a/M/ii/iii | I was reading about argan oil and found that in the old days that they had a hard time removing the spiney burred outer covering from the argan nuts. What they did was let the goats eat them, the goats digested the outer covering and then after the goats *ahem* expelled the argan nuts, then the ladies would gather the nuts to make the oil! I just thought that someone else out there probably needs to know this... This reminds me of those coffee beans. Except it's the Civet that eats the coffee beans and people are paying over $300 per pound for them.
