I am at BS and can just continue to trim 1/2 every month like I was going to do without loosing any length. I just sounded good at the time I guess I was getting a little sissor happy like Feye suggested Best to stick with the plan. At first it feels so good to have 2 inches off at once, but after a while you start to feel that it's shorter than before. And then you don't want to do 2 more right away. At least that's how it works for me | | | February 21st, 2003, 04:39 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: BFE Posts: 7,970 Length: 18"?/36"/40" Type: 1c/2a/M/ii | Hi Betty, I'm glad to hear you decided 2" was enough. That's a lot! If you love the way your hair looks now just go with it and do the monthly maintainance trims. Much less of a shock for you. A 4" difference in length would be huge. I would have a very hard time adjusting to that much off. It sounds like the 2" was just right for you. Bouncin' and Behavin' Betty! Looking good! | | | February 21st, 2003, 04:51 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Age: 39 Posts: 1,798 Length: 20.5/23/30 Type: 2c/3a/M/C/iii | | I feel fine with 2 inches off now ..... | | but once I got to thinking...... 2 more off would be tooooooo drastic. I dont regret my 2 inch trim now but probably would 2 more off. Maintence trims is the best way to go! Small trims help you preserve more length. Good for you. __________________ Love, RedButterfly Hair Description: Color - Mahogany Brown Type - Curly 3a - 3b / F - M / iii Current Length - BSL First Goal - Waist Second Goal - Classic Third Goal - Knee | | | February 21st, 2003, 04:59 AM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Sipping Darjeeling with Jesus and LisaJaney Age: 47 Posts: 3,307 Length: 24/45/?? You might have to alter your updo strategy if you cut too much off as well. ("DRAT! Why can't I get it to do that anymore?!?" ) __________________ | | | February 21st, 2003, 09:19 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: In front of the computer! Posts: 2,339 | | I agree with what everyone else said........ | | I'm VERY happy to hear you decided to hold off on the additional 2 inches, Betty. Two isn't so bad -- but FOUR adds up to a LOT!! I've gotten scissor happy before and I've regretted it every single time. It only takes two minutes to chop off hair and eons for it to grow back. If the urge hits you, sit on your hands for at least a week. If you still feel the same way after that, wait another week. If you still feel the same way after that, then maybe it's the right thing to do. But make any decision like this carefully -- the pain from a hasty cut can last a long, long time!!! __________________ 2/F-M/ii Caramel brown with gold and copper highlights and a growing barrage of silvers. | | | February 21st, 2003, 05:36 PM | #8 | | Moderator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Central Tejas Age: 49 Posts: 12,727 Type: 2b/2c/F/i | I'm glad to hear you've decided to wait. I just think we can trim too much off, too soon. Freshly cut hair feels great . . . at least at first! But then the thoughts start to creep in saying "I pampered that hair and now it is gone". I don't have anything against people keeping their hair at WHATEVER length they prefer, I just think we (in general terms) need to think long and hard about what changes we want to make to our hair (especially if it will take a lot of time and/or money to undo what we did - if THAT is possible! ) | | | February 21st, 2003, 06:00 PM | #9 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Chicago Age: 60 Posts: 123 Length: ???/24 /50 | Thank you for not doing anything drastic and I am sure that the Feye method of trimming will help you out! Like my dollie? I do!!!! It's always wise to wait awhile before deciding to go on. You can always change your mind this way. After the next cut, you wouldn't be able to change a thing! You would just have to wait out the growing out stage again. I think you will find this to work well for you. | | | February 21st, 2003, 10:24 PM | #11 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 3,935 | It's best to know what you want and good that you don't jump into things betty! | | | February 21st, 2003, 10:29 PM | #12 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 2,098 | Yay Betty, et al - best to improvise TBrzy's plan of a two week stall D...g __________________ Be yourself - unless you suck | | | February 22nd, 2003, 11:55 AM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Southern California Posts: 3,957 Length: 36"/52¾"/50" Type: 1c/2a/C/iii | I've noticed that when I trim my hair, the ends DO feel really good. Freshly cut ends always feel nice... for awhile. But no matter what, they always end up feeling dry and I'm back to where I was in the first place.
