Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link

I found this link on my favorite digitalnaturopath.com site and thought it might be helpful information for many people here.

Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link

Thank you for posting that link, Dianyla. A lot of information to take in. Some very interesting things about fibroids. I book marked it for later reference.

Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link

Great link. I bookmarked it and printed it out. This is something I want to study. My own hair loss was from hormones and stress.

Very interesting site, thanks Dianyla. I noticed they listed harsh shampoos, perms and dying as possible culprits, too.

Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link

The connection between animal fat and hair loss was interesting (but not strongly suggested - don't want to offend anyone )

Researchers in one study noted that Japanese hair was thick and healthy, with a small gland and little scalp oil, until large amounts of animal fat crept into their diet after World War II.

On a nearly vegan diet I can hardly drum up a drop of sebum, but Protein Power made me lose half my hair (and it wasn't for lack of protein )

This may be a contributing factor anyway ......

Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link

Dianlya, thank you! This was particularly interesting to me. Having naturally thin hair, it is even more important to realize the effects of diet and medication. I waited until I had been on my Thyroid hormones for 6 months before deciding to grow my hair out. I knew lack of thyroid was part of the reason it had thinned so much to begin with. I also take a beta blocker for a heart defect, I had know idea it contributes to Alopecia. This may explain my still above average shed rate. thanks again. J

Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link

Thanks for posting this article! I have read elsewhere that frequent shampooing is beneficial to fight hairloss. I may have to try it.
