I bookmarked it and printed it out. This is something I want to study. My own hair loss was from hormones and stress. Type: 1c/2a/C/ii | | Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link | | The connection between animal fat and hair loss was interesting (but not strongly suggested - don't want to offend anyone ) Researchers in one study noted that Japanese hair was thick and healthy, with a small gland and little scalp oil, until large amounts of animal fat crept into their diet after World War II. On a nearly vegan diet I can hardly drum up a drop of sebum, but Protein Power made me lose half my hair (and it wasn't for lack of protein ) This may be a contributing factor anyway ...... __________________ | | | February 14th, 2005, 03:46 AM | #11 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: waiting for fairy tale ends!!;) Age: 45 Posts: 624 Length: Pixie/??/Trmnl Type: 2c/F/i | | Re: Female Hair Loss & Thinning Link | | Dianlya, thank you! This was particularly interesting to me. Having naturally thin hair, it is even more important to realize the effects of diet and medication. I waited until I had been on my Thyroid hormones for 6 months before deciding to grow my hair out. I knew lack of thyroid was part of the reason it had thinned so much to begin with. I also take a beta blocker for a heart defect, I had know idea it contributes to Alopecia. This may explain my still above average shed rate. thanks again. I have read elsewhere that frequent shampooing is beneficial to fight hairloss. I may have to try it. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
