Clay Scalp Mask recipe?

I saw this on here in the last month or so, but I can't remember the post I saw it in. It was a mention of using Bentonite clay to open up clogged pores on the scalp - I finally got some bentonite clay, but now I can't find the post!

On a side note.... I have a lot of this clay..... any other recommendations for interesting stuff to do with it? I also have Kaolin clay, green clay, and fullers earth. At one point I had a book of recipes, but that book is somewhere out in the garage in a box with the rest of my worldly possesions.

Any suggestions welcome!

Mare

Hi Mare. That was me. I make up the clay and add essential oils to it. I add about 15 drops to each ounce of prepared clay. I have added ACV to it as well. The oils I have are peppermint, lavender, cedarwood, sage, thyme, rosemary and a few others, but those are the ones I use for the clay. It works as well as the MM Detox.

I don't measure water or clay. I just mix until I think it looks right. I like a loose clay for the scalp and a more mud like clay for my face. To rinse it I lay down in a tub filled with hot water and let the hair soak until the clay comes out. Then I shower and shampoo.

A plain clay also works wonderfully well on your face. It will pull everything out making your skin so smooth and soft. Leave the clay on as long as you can up to 45 minutes.

The first time I did this I got a lot of large black heads out of my scalp. They were left in the tub when I let the water out, but the second time I didn't get any. I plan to do this once a month to keep my scalp clean.

Re: Clay Scalp Mask recipe?

Thank you Meg, I was ordering shea butter from Mountain Rose Herbs the day I read your post, and thought it was a great idea, since I have problems with acne on my scalp (not on my face tho..... sometimes I would like to be predictable) so I added it onto my order.

Thank you for replying!
Mare
