I'm sure that mine has since I had a baby 2 years ago. I know that my hair is a little thicker since before I had him but I was wondering if the type can change as well. | | | January 20th, 2005, 04:57 AM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Near Detroit, Michigan Age: 37 Posts: 3,915 Length: 3/36+/36-40 Type: 2a/2b/F/M/ii | | Re: Can your hair type change? | | Yes it can because hair is always replacing itself. Think of your scalp as a Play doh fun factory with the different attachments (or one of those pasta makers) as you get older your scalp can change and that's like changing the attachment on the factory. __________________ This is before and after April 4th, 2007 Trim. Even the colour changed: From bright golden blonde to a darker, brunette-ish with lots of red I think it’s because of a great supplements routine and possibly the use of CO’s Last edited by Igor : January 20th, 2005 at 05:17 AM. Mine definitely has. I have been developing a lot more wave in the past 3 months especially. In fact, I just changed my stats to show that. Now an official 2a instead of 1b when I started. | | | January 20th, 2005, 05:29 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Holland Age: 32 Posts: 1,172 Length: --/31/long Type: 1b/1c/F/ii | | Re: Can your hair type change? | | When my hair was shorter it could have been typed as a 1b, the longer it gets the wavier though, and I am a 2a now. I hope to achieve some changes in thickness also later. But I would say it can definitely change | | | January 20th, 2005, 05:30 AM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: May 2004 Location: a winter place Age: 64 Posts: 2,171 Length: less/class/long Type: 2a/F/ii/iii | | Re: Can your hair type change? | | Oh yes, Canadianchik...my hair has changed from a 1A several years ago, to a 2A today. It seems after having a child and going through the change of life, my hair is getting thicker and wavier. As with most things in life, change is inevitable. Isn't it exciting? | | | January 20th, 2005, 05:33 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: USA Posts: 1,044 Length: 20"?/25.5"/26" Type: 2a/2b/M/ii | | Re: Can your hair type change? | | Definitely. My hair went from straight and glossy to downright curly in my teens. __________________ | | | January 20th, 2005, 06:34 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: upstate SC Age: 36 Posts: 904 Length: 23/24/?? Mine became less straight and fine after menarche and has deepened in color since my late teens. The most dramatic change I've observed was on a friend who, in high school, had long, dark brunette, really curly hair (big ringlets); after having a child in her early 20's, it was several shades lighter and practically straight. She was pretty freaked out about losing all her curl! ETA: Quote: | Originally Posted by UP Lisa So you think it has anything to do with the products you are using? I didn't think the texture could change; only the thickness. | | | January 20th, 2005, 09:04 AM | #12 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: California Age: 31 Posts: 2,087 Length: .25"/37"/46" Type: 1b/M/C/iii | | Re: Can your hair type change? | | Yep, it can! I started out light strawberry blond, stick straight, very very fine. At 15, it went from that to very very thick, very red and curly. Just recently, due to my new routine focusing on moisture, my hair has also started regaining some of it's wave that the weight has pulled out. | | | January 20th, 2005, 09:19 AM | #13 | | Moderator Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Almost Heaven, West Virginia Age: 40 Posts: 6,781 Length: 30/37.5/??? My hair went from the 2 range to the 3 range when I hit puberty. Length and condition can also change your hair type. As mine has gotten longer and also is in better shape, my hair type changed from mainly 3B to 3A. I just changed it in my profile yesterday, in fact! For instance, my whole life I thought my hair was basically straight and just hard to get along with. My mother always brushed my hair out, and put it up in braids or ponytails. Which I dont blame her, what else do you do with a child who has beyond classic length hair, anytime I would manage to get the braids out or the ponytail ties out, WHAMMO..instant tangles. But I digress...(love that word...lol) Here is a picture of my hair when I was in kg, 1st and 2nd grade http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bandia...a0.jpg&.src=ph You can see some wave in my hair there, but I dont know if that is because it was taken out of a braid and brushed that made it look like that or what. anyway now I treat my hair like wavy/curly hair and I actually have ringlets forming in some places. But I do agree, hormonal changes can cause some changes to occur, as can lifestyle habits etc. Blessings!
