When I ordered it I never thought about what color it would be. It's green. I haven't used it one my hair because I was afraid it would turn my hair green and I keep forgetting to ask if it will or not! Will it turn my hair green if I were to heavily oil my hair, say, for a hot oil treatment? __________________ Pam "Meddle not in the affairs of Dragons, For you are crunchy and taste good with catsup." | | | June 18th, 2003, 09:46 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Canada Posts: 3,467 Length: 19.5/26?/?? Here are a few things you can do with the ingredients you have: Moisturizing Bath Oil - blend 4 tablespoons of avocado oil and 15 drops of essential oil together, and disperse under running bath water. A blend of 2 parts lavender to 1 parts rosemary essential oil can be nice. Deep Conditioning Hair Oil - blend 1 tablespoon avocado oil with 5 drops of rosemary essential oil. Distribute evenly through hair, and let sit warm for half an hour. Shampoo to remove. Cuticle Treatment for Dry Skin - gently heat 1 tablespoon shea butter, 1 tablespoon avocado oil and 1 tablespoon jojoba oil together. When the shea has melted, remove from heat. Add 20 drops of lavender essential oil, and when it has cooled a little more, 5 capsules of vitamin e. Sorry, but lotions / cremes can't be made without the use of either emulsifying wax or a beeswax and borax combination. The emulsifying wax definitely makes a better product, though! Smiles, avocado oil is one of the better fats for your body--ranks up there with olive oil. Since your body does need fat, don't worry about eating this one, too! I bet it makes a great salad dressing! __________________ | | | June 19th, 2003, 08:41 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2003 Location: Canada Posts: 3,467 Length: 19.5/26?/?? Type: 2c/C/ii | thank you, thank you, both of you i had a valid reason to buy that oil, i just forgot that now. :x rachel, i'm not much of a bath person, i feel dizzy when i get up from the tub....so i prefer showers... but the cuticle oil and deep conditioning oil sounds great. i'll try them. heidi, i've never heard avocado oil being used in cooking so far. salad dressing seems a great idea i'll try it with lemon juice and salt and see how it tastes. i like olive oil+lemon+salt combo for dressings __________________ ~Smiles 'All the wonders you seek are within yourself' - Thomas Browne My long hair journal: Dancing with the Wind! | | | June 19th, 2003, 09:31 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,501 | Smiles, I have the exact same problem with baths. I have really low blood pressure, and fainting is a problem I deal with! I've found that by making sure the temp is only a little higher than body temperature, drinking 2 eight-ounce glasses of water during my soak, and staying in no longer than 20 minutes has made baths easier for me! Sounds involved, but really, it's not. Rachel, who for some reason can crank up the shower temps but not the bath temps. Am I weird or what? __________________ Type: 1c F ii | Length: 30 " | Goal: 45 in | taking a break from the boards) | | | June 19th, 2003, 09:32 AM | #9 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2003 Posts: 1,501 | Quote: | Originally Posted by Heidi Rachel, you're going to have to teach a class or two at our LHC convention! | Uhhhhhh.... what LHC convention? I'm going to be in Vancouver in November, that's why I asked. :-) I've never been in that area before, it should be fun. (And, reputedly great scuba diving, if there's diving in November.) Wow, I bet it's pretty way up there. It sounds cold, though. :imagine a shivering emoticon here: __________________ Tailbone. Finally! Yay! New goal: Until I get sick of it.
