I cleaned the beater bar on the vaccuum today. and there was what I thought was a lot of my hair, and I'm noticing more in my brush than usual. I baby my hair something fierce: comb gently, only BBB, always wear a hat outside, almost always wear it up---I seem to remember it shedding like this last year at this time. Does anyone else notice seasonal shedding patterns?? __________________ 1/2", 27", waist brown/auburn like woodgrain fine hairs, but a lot of 'em | | | December 2nd, 2004, 02:45 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: massachusetts Age: 59 Posts: 2,588 Length: 20/20/20 Type: 2a/F/i | | Re: Seasonal shedding anyone?? | | I shed more in the Fall | | | December 2nd, 2004, 03:15 PM | #3 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: SC Age: 58 Posts: 46 Length: 16/28.5/43 Type: 1c/2a/F/ii | | Re: Seasonal shedding anyone?? | | Quote: | Originally Posted by chamogirl I shed more in the Fall | I don't know if it's just a shedding cycle or because I changed thyroid meds but I'm sure seeing a lot of my hair around the house, on the bathroom floor, in my comb, etc. | | | December 2nd, 2004, 04:20 PM | #4 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,560 Length: 32/37/65 | | Re: Seasonal shedding anyone?? | | Yep, me too. I am using some oils that I hope will lessen it for now and for the future as well. I am also paying close attention to my diet. No sugar, little to no grains, healthy fats, good quality meats and protiens, and lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits. I will most likely not know if all of this works until next year, but this year the shedding was not as bad as in past years. I was following this diet, but was not using herbs and oils that are reportedly good for thinning/shedding hair. I finally start treating my hair right and this is what I get...(sigh) Good news is, it's slowing down after a few weeks of heavy action. Now I'm seeing leetle hairs sprouting, maybe 1/4" long, in the front. Not sure if it's the vitamins or what, but I'll take it! I just went through a vicious shedding cycle, I mean I lost a bunch. I got it to stop by starting up the Nioxin Semodex, but I think part of it was seasonal. __________________ Deb | | | December 17th, 2004, 04:44 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: waiting for fairy tale ends!!;) Age: 44 Posts: 624 Length: Pixie/??/Trmnl Type: 2c/F/i | | Re: Seasonal shedding anyone?? | | I shed a lot of hair this Nov and Dec. It seems to have slowed a bit. I have a thinner pony tail now, and I have none to spare. It really irked me, and I am taking all the nutrients like Biotin and MSM....drats...... __________________ Growing from here to there! I've started taking MSM to control it a bit, but I don't know yet if it's working. I'll keep y'all posted. | | | December 17th, 2004, 05:31 AM | #10 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: USA Posts: 1,044 Length: 20"?/25.5"/26" Type: 2a/2b/M/ii | | Re: Seasonal shedding anyone?? | | I've been shedding like a maniac -- two or three times in the shower I have to collect the hair on my hands, twist it into a little rope, and lean out of the shower to throw it away. Don't want to freak out the Manfriend or have a huge discarded Slimey Hair Beast in the drain for him to stumble upon. Poor vacuum. | | | December 18th, 2004, 09:46 AM | #12 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Biking my a$$ off. I have a little bit around the winter & summer solstices, but not as heavily as around the equinoxes. I'm not sure why, it just happens that way. | | | December 18th, 2004, 12:33 PM | #13 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Arkansas Age: 37 Posts: 796 Type: 1a/F/ii | | Re: Seasonal shedding anyone?? | | I shed little varmints like crazy during the early part of Autumn...It was disheartening to see all that hair coming out, but fortunately the mammoth hairballs are shrinking to just a few hairs. __________________ Photo taken March 17, 2004, at 30" 1a/F/ii - dark auburn[hennaed]-fine wispy texture pixie/34"/classic Hair photos | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
