You may want to try Aphogee treatment for damaged hair. this actually stops breakage. Not like other products that claim to stop breakage. It can be found at Sallys. It is about 20 dollars or maybe a little less for a 16 oz bottle. The bottle is rectangular. If it is a round bottle its the wrong stuff. If it says to leave in for 2 minutes its the wrong stuff. Aphogee makes different products. Look at the directions and it says the treatment dries extremly hard into the hair. You cannot bend or move your hair with while you have the product in your hair. Your hair will become EXTREMLY HARD while its in your hair but you do rinse it out. You have to rinse it out with warm water and the moisturize with a deep conditioner. Aphogee has the balancing moisturizer but I never use it. Any deep conditioner will work. I preffer to use Aussie 3MM DEEEEEP after an aphogee treatment. This product should ONLY be used if you are having extreme breakage. This is not for day to day or weekly use. Once a month or every six weeks is ok. Just remember that while your hair is hard (like a helmet) you can not bend it or manipulate it. You have to use heat with this product. A hooded dryer is best but a blow fryer will work in a pinch. Re: holy crap.. breakage

I'm with IrishRed. It sounds like something specific is causing this damage, especially if it's happening mostly in certain locations and not others. It's definitely worth thinking about what behaviours or actions could possibly be contributing to localized breakage.

But yeah, we'd need to know more about it, I guess, before we can make any great suggestions. I hope we can help you!

Re: holy crap.. breakage

Aphogee is used in some salons. You can ask your stylist about it if you visit salons and see what they suggest. Or you can have them do the treatment for you. I am not sure what is meant by things going wrong unless you dont follow the instructions and you break your hair. But the instructions are easy to follow. This product provides immidiate results. But if you are not comfortable with trying it out you can look at your routine and see if you are doing something to cause the breakage. Analyzing your routine should be done anytime you notice breakage anyway. Good luck

Re: holy crap.. breakage

I'm not being funny but are you positive it is breakage?

I have lots of 1" hairs around my hairline (it is most noticeable there but they are all over my scalp in reality) that are new little hairs. Have you looked at the ends of the hairs? If they are nicely tapered then they are new and nothing to worry about. If they are frayed/split or blunt/cut then they are damage.

I hope that makes sense and that they are new hairs not damage.

Re: holy crap.. breakage

I found the Aphogee a bit nerve-racking at first...I was terrified my hair would bend and snap at some point when it was drying...but it didn't...

Make sure you give your self a good chunk of time for the whole process...it stinks really bad, BTW (don't notice it in the hair afterwards, but the bathroom does smell bad for awhile afterwards...)

You basically have to dry your hair non stop...I only had a blowdryer..until it beomes really hard..I can't recall how long it took me but my arms did get tired...then rinse it out and apply a deep conditioner afterwards...

I've only done it maybe once or twice because it is time-consuming and messy....I didn't notice miracles....the good news is that if you *don't* notice miracles, it may mean your hair wasn't too damaged to begin with...can't hurt it though!

Good luck if you try it!
