A Round Face Shape

Hello. I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, but I'm trying to figure out whether to keep my bangs or grow them out. If any of you have a round face, please respond.

I thought I looked better with bangs, but I hate my bangs. They are so fine and thin that they never stay in place and always end up looking oily so fast. But I'm not sure I would look any better with them grown out.

The only way my bangs would look good is if I curl them and spray them like crazy every day.

Thumbs up Re: A Round Face Shape

I have a round face, too, and thought I'd look terrible with no bangs. But, I decided to try it since I've never not had them. Anyway, I like to wear my hair back and it honestly looks good. I still don't like wearing my hair down in front, though, unless I have something holding the bang area back.

Be brave and see what happens. My bangs only bugged me for a few months before I could pull them back.

Good luck,
Jackie

Re: A Round Face Shape

You can always wash only your bangs if they become greasy too fast.

Re: A Round Face Shape

MemSahib,

You have the same hair type as me. Do you have bangs?

Re: A Round Face Shape

Yes, look at my thread from a year ago about bangs which you bumped up this morning. I posted a picture on it. I have thinnish bangs. I want most of my hair to be available for pulling back, but the bangs help soften my face. I agonized over this too last year and finally decided I need them. I use a large barrel hot curler to shape them some, though it looks pretty flat in the picture on the other thread. I think they needed a refresher wash. One thing is that I've started scalp washing between all-over shampoos and that has helped all the way around with flatness on the top and helped with not drying the length so much.

Re: A Round Face Shape

I have a VERY round face, and haven't had bangs in a long time. I think I look quite nice, if I do say so myself. Here's a picture of me with my hair down. (In my jammies. )

Re: A Round Face Shape

I have bangs and have had them ever since the 3rd grade. I have a ROUND face and happen to think that I look better with the bangs than without. I blowdry my bangs into the direction I want them to go and spray them with a little Sebastien Mega Hold Shaper spray and they stay all day and into the next. On the non-wash days, I brush them out and they are still shaped the way I want so I just spray them a little to keep them in place throughout the day. I do often pin them to the side when I'm at home if they start to fall in my face or bother me and I actually think that looks cute too, but I don't wear it outside like that. My BF HATES when I pin them like that, but I think they look cute Sometimes I will brush the bangs into the length of my hair and they blend in somewhat. I think that the no-bangs look is better on me when my hair is down, but when my hair is pulled back I need the bangs to soften the look. Here are some pictures and you can also see my bangs in my avatar:

I've often toyed with the idea of growing my bangs out, but it's just such a huge change when you've never been without them... Perhaps pinning them back at home will let me get used to the look and maybe I'll get up the nerve to wear them pinned back in public... who knows, I may be converted one day, but I don't see if anytime soon

Re: A Round Face Shape

Both you gals look wonderful. (I like the tiara, Perseph.) I guess it really depend on what you want because Persephone and Tiffany are living proof round faces can look terrific with or without bangs.

When I did attempt growing out I kept seeing myself in junior high each time I looked in the mirror at myself with a headband. Only this time my hair had grey streaks and my face had wrinkles. Baaaaad combination. That was the day I gave in and trimmed them up. I've never looked back.

Re: A Round Face Shape

Tiffanie, I think you look really cute with bangs. I like how they're swept off to the side. But I think you look good without them too.

Re: A Round Face Shape

Thanks, Persephone! I think that my face is wider than yours, b/c you look so natural without bangs, I don't see why you would ever "need" them, so to speak. You should definitely keep your hair as it is! BTW, I LOVE the tiara!

Re: A Round Face Shape

Tiffanie,
You have a beautiful face and a very pretty hairline. Your bangs look very nice on you, but I see no reason you should feel like you need them.
I think you could wear your hair either way very effectively!

Re: A Round Face Shape

Tiffanie, i think you look cute without bangs whn your hair is down too. And you looknice with them as well.

I have been wondering about bangs lately. I've been getting fed up of my hair. Measurment arnt helping any because my hair soesnt seemed to have grown, my hair too long and thick for a normal bun, but too short for a figure of eight, and i'm getting fed up of it.
I just ordered a ficcare though, do i cant cut it because i'd feel to guilty.
I have been thinking about bangs for a change because i dont think i look good with my hair completely up, and i want a change. I dont think i look better with bangs when my hair is down though. I wanted bangs like tiffanies, only a bit longer. Then i can pin them back when its down.

UP lisa, i think round faces look great with bangs. You could get long side swept ones?

Re: A Round Face Shape

Well, maybe I'll start growing them out, and see how they look. I think I look okay with all my hair back. I do that sometimes anyway. But with it down, I don't know if I'd like it.

Re: A Round Face Shape

To be honest - with very few exceptions I think most people look good without bangs. It's more a question of getting used to seeing yourself without them and what your preference is - if you want to have them or not. The only way to know for sure is trying to grow them out at least a bit to see what it feels like (they don't have to be that long to stay back behind ears or stay reasonably well in an updo) - if it's not for you, you can always cut bangs again and then you know for sure.
