Re: another CO question- herbal essences

AS far as I know they all have cones and a lot of them. This line leaves a film on my hair that makes it feel like plastic, dont like 'em. I would not recommend these for COing.

Re: another CO question- herbal essences

Because CO takes up a LOT of conditioner; if anything, Herbal Essences is probably too pricey to use in big chunky globs for every wash. V05 and Suave are good bets mostly because they're so cheap. But most COers do a final finish with their favorite conditioner. You could still use your HE for that... that way the scent stays better too.

Re: another CO question- herbal essences

First of all, I agree that they're rather too pricey for COing. Just my opinion, of course. As for ingredients...

I have the HE fruit fusions purifying conditioner here (green bottle), and cyclopentasiloxane, which is a silicone, is listed second. Also it contains dimethicone. I retired it without even trying it out.

Also I have the HE (regular, I suppose - not fruit fusions) natural volume (yellow bottle), which seems to be 'cone free. It's on my list of things to try.

This summer, I think I tried using the pink one (for dry hair? Not sure), and it was spectacularly unsuccessful. Hair came out totally limp and greasy-looking.

So, I can't really recommend them. They seem too heavy, and/or contain 'cones.

If you do try it, please let us know what you think of the result. Best of luck!

Re: another CO question- herbal essences

You can look up the ingredients for Herbal Essences stuff at drugstore.com. Most of them have cones, but I'm pretty sure some of them do not.

Personally I think it is too thick for CO on the scalp, but you could use it for the detangling part I suppose.

I just found out something myself ... not all -cones end in "cone"!

Anyway, I don't know if this is the list you were referring to, but I found this in a recent post:

I credit this to Flaxen, because that's who showed it to me ...

"Most of them end in "cone", and we tend to refer to all of them that way. Some do not, however.

From Naturallycurly.com:

Amodimethicone..........not soluble in water by itself
Amodimethicone (and) Trideceth-12 (and) Cetrimonium Chloride..........mixture that is soluble in water in the bottle
Behenoxy Dimethicone..........Sparingly soluble in water
Cetearyl methicone..........not soluble in water
Cetyl Dimethicone..........not soluble in water
Cyclomethicone..........not soluble in water
Cyclopentasiloxane..........not soluble in water
Dimethicone..........not soluble in water
Dimethicone Copolyol..........water soluble
Dimethicone copolyol..........water soluble
Dimethiconol..........not soluble in water
Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein Hydroxypropyl Polysiloxane..........water soluble
Stearoxy Dimethicone..........Sparingly soluble in water
Stearyl Dimethicone..........not soluble in water
Trimethylsilylamodimethicone..........not soluble in water
Lauryl methicone copolyol..........water soluble"

Post Re: another CO question- herbal essences

I'm bumping this up to add what I've learned.

The older formulas of Herbal Essences did Not have cones but when they changed them to the new ones that say with Hawafena they made them With cones.

I also recieved an email from them recently saying they would be making more changes in December so that could mean new products or they could change the formulas again.

Yup. I found it too heavy on my scalp, but excellent for detangling the length.
