I've got a good friend who is a college instructor. Being the single wanderlust guy he is, he doesn't teach in a brick and mortar place. He teaches on Navy ships.
It's actually a cool job - he teaches, he gets free room and board and can take advantage of the ship's facilities (gym, library, whatnot) AND gets to visit all the ports the ship sets into! Plus you can pick and choose which classes/ships/dates you work.
Anyways, he usually cruises during the spring and was scheduled for a ship that's doing a Pacific time trial sort of thing. So he wouldn't be in the gulf (he's done that before.)
But the Navy canceled all the courses! They did so because they were worried he'd pick up that deadly Hong Kong virus. The plans were that he'd fly into Hong Kong and meet the ship there.
So he's not going, he'll stay home and be safe! I'm a happy camper. __________________
