And what do you use to clean your face? Just curious because I'm looking for a new routine. Oh, please also mention your skin type. Thanks! | | | May 24th, 2004, 10:08 PM | #2 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Scotts Valley,Ca. I don't wear makeup though. __________________ Melanie 1c-2b,f-m, ii 30 inches straight/blunt cut Blonde/grey | | | May 25th, 2004, 01:42 AM | #3 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: At the HORSE barn :) Posts: 2,053 | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | I use oil of olay sometimes, Mary Kay cleanser sometimes, Body Shop Tea Tree facial foam the other times....I'm a real facial cleanser junkie!!! My skin is normal/combination with no acne and few wrinkles. I don't wear makeup. __________________ Naturally red fine Thermally Reconditioned but growing back CURLY | | | May 25th, 2004, 03:15 AM | #4 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: San Antonio Age: 34 Posts: 326 | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | Right now I'm using pink Camay soap for my body, and a mixture of about 60%CO (Castor Oil), 40% EVOO with a few drops of Lavender EO for scent for my face. I'm loving the oil only BTW. My skin is quite nice and getting nicer. I do think my next mixture will use less CO. That stuff is hard to get off you face! | | | May 25th, 2004, 03:25 AM | #5 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: US-Sonoran Desert Age: 33 Posts: 821 Length: 18/21.7/30 Type: 1b/F/ii | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | I use Dr. Bronners Liquid Soap in Peppermint for the body and Clearasil face wash, it doesn't dry out my skin. I like the pump bottle a lot better than the hard to squeeze tubes. ETA: I have fairly sensitive skin that has dry patches, and gets oily in the t-zone. | | | May 25th, 2004, 05:42 AM | #6 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Hill Country, Central TX Age: 54 Posts: 4,017 Length: 39"/55"/??? I wash my whole body, face included with either one of those two, but not every day. I mean I wash my face every day, but only soap up my body in the shower 1-2 times a week. The other days I take a hot bath (no soap). My skin is oily. | | | May 25th, 2004, 06:30 AM | #7 | | Long Hair Admirer Join Date: May 2004 Age: 37 Posts: 15 | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | Thanks everyone. My skin has some minor impurities but at the same time it can be slightly flaky/dry. I wonder if this is due to wrong treatment. I wash my face twice a day using shower gel or washing gel, but I think I'll try something different. I can't use oil because I wear contact lenses. But maybe I'll start washing just once a day... | | | May 25th, 2004, 07:12 AM | #8 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Here, rather than there. I wash 2 to 3 times a day, as I am oily usually, but I can get flaky around my nose. I tone with an ACV/water mix and use NG Herbal Lotion/Aveeno brightning lotion mix. Before that, I used Nutragena Pore Refining cleansing scrub and toner with the Aveeno skin brightning lotion. When this quits working, I will switch. . __________________ A visit with friends makes for great hair! I use either Lavender Baby Moose (I think made by J&J) or a Foaming Milk Bath Cleanser for babies. Both are lightly foaming cleansers without being too drying and they have soothing ingredients, good smells and remove all my makeup, including mascara and eyeliner. I follow this up with a few drops of AHA 8% lotion and after it sits a bit, I take about a dime sized amount of unrefined Shea Butter rub it into an oil and smooth on my face. In the morning I just rinse with cool water and apply a sunscreen containing light lotion. My skin rarely breaks out and since doing the AHA and Shea Butter it looks so baby smooth and most of the blackheads are gone. Edited to add: My skin is pretty dry, but I get blackheads on my nose and if I breakout its on the jawline. __________________ Golden Medium Blonde hair w/highlights 16/32/32 <--- holding at my goal! 1aFiii Last edited by anixia : May 25th, 2004 at 07:26 AM. On my face I use Burt's Bees Orange Facial Wash (or something like that--comes in a tube). I love Burt. | | | May 25th, 2004, 08:05 AM | #11 | | Long Hair Devotee Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Buffalo, NY Age: 32 Posts: 664 Type: 1a/F/M/ii | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | I use either Johnson & Johnson head to toe baby wash or suave kids cherry blast shampoo and conditioner in one (doesn't seem to break me out, and is kinda moisturizing). I use either st ives scrub or baking soda mixed with cleanser every few days; and a facial mask every 3rd day (when i wash my hair). __________________ _______________________________________ Generic Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo Generic Sebastian Potion 9 or BWC Leave-In | | | May 25th, 2004, 09:24 AM | #12 | | Administrator Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Sometimes next to Canada. I also am a huge fan of Johnson & Johnson's Head-to-Toe. I love the oil cleansing method, but I tend to use that just for deep cleansing now because I love foamies. I'm dying to try a good, homemade goats milk soap, though. Oh, skin type: Normal to oily (mostly normal - not too dry, not too oily). I am very prone to breakouts, though. I think that's a sensitivity to rough handling, though. | | | May 25th, 2004, 11:39 AM | #13 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Alberta, Canada Age: 32 Posts: 1,453 Length: ?/27/45 Type: 1c/M/iii | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | For body washing, I use whatever smells good. Except Lever 2000, which gives me a rash. My face is a whole 'nother story. I have tried so many things on my face it's unbelieveable. Right now, I can only use two products that don't give me zits, blackheads or a rash. St. Ives Apricot scrub, and Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque. I've heard lots of people complain about the apricot scrub, saying the grit is too sharp and tears your skin or something. It makes my face happy, anyway. Smells kind of nasty, though. | | | May 25th, 2004, 01:26 PM | #14 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Feb 2003 Location: Hamburg, Germany Age: 39 Posts: 3,675 Length: Pixie/32.5"/37" Type: 1c/F/i | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | I use NuSkin cream cleanser for dry skin. My skin is dry to normal (combination) and more or less sensitive. I cannot tolerate any soaps, no matter how well made or oily they are. Mild detergents do work, but on the face (and scalp for that matter) I prefer something that's even less stripping. __________________ Cheers, Madeleine, G.F.T.G. *g* Fontaine de Vaucluse, France, October 2004 | | | May 25th, 2004, 02:48 PM | #15 | | Long Hair Guru Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: LA Posts: 4,712 Length: 30/32/39 Type: 3a/3b/F/iii | | Re: What do you use to wash your skin? | | I use jojoba oil to wash my face twice a day. I used to use Dove in the shower but I recently switched back to Kiss My Face Olive Oil Soap. It's great for my skin but I'd stopped using it because of the mess it makes in the shower. I decided I'd rather have good skin than worry about the shower. My skin is...normal/combination, I guess. My cheeks get a bit dry during the fall and winter. I occasionally get tiny breakouts in my t-zone. They're almost always small enough to totally hide under makeup. I am nearly 30 and don't have anything resembling a hint of a wrinkle. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
