Unhappy Im new, I need help with major hair breakage! could it be stress?

im a very anxious person , but now I think its starting to affect my hair....or it could be a combo of stress, not eating, silicone conditioner and putting my hair up...my hair has started to break on top (ihave very thick hair ) and I cant comb through it unless I pile on ALOT of conditioner and even then I have to do the ends separetely (its broken so bad that I have Frizz all over-even at the roots) its been breaking alot and shedding alot...and the only thing that was making it look nice was this conditioner smooth vive by L'oreal, but I thnk it may have contributed to it because I would have to use it everyday -if I went one day without washing my hair after S&C with L'oreal cond and Vo5 shampoo , the next day my hair would be a dried out straw like mess on top (and this is so weird for me cuz Ive always had oily hair) What do I do? Ive also not been eating or sleeping well-I know that can make your hair look bad but this is ridiculous -it takes me forever to put it up even cuz I have to be so careful combing it and its not even taht long! any help appreciated....thanks..

Re: Im new, I need help with major hair breakage! could it be stress?

If the weather is dry where you live, it can contribute to frizziness.

I doubt not eating would cause breakage unless you had been doing that for a long time--in short term, not eating would more likely cause your hair to fall out if anything. In long term, your body would be producing hair that is more fragile and more prone to breakage.

Have you tried clarifying?

I'm also not sure I'd stop using silicones if I were having a breakage problem. Silicones often help.

And lastly, are you positive it's breakage and not new growth? A lot of people mistake the shorter hairs from new growth as breakage at first.

I have heard that stress can cause hair problems.
