sorry, yes another Cyclopenthasiloxane question

i finally got the Cyclopenthasiloxane cone! i know it can build up when it is alone in the ingredient. thank to nightshade for explaining. before understanding completely i have 2 conditioner with it. do i need to use a clarifying shampoo with harsher detergent or any Sulfate?

From what I understand, sulphates help remove silicone more efficiently.

However, most non sulphate shampoos are also fairly good cleansers, so a mild non sulphate shampoo that is not overly conditioning would probably work.

SLES should be more than enough to prevent the cyclo-cone from building up. I personally think that even some no-sulfate shampoos are quite efficient to prevent build up of this cone (it might take more shampoo then, though, as the no-sulfate ones are usually less efficient in removing cyclopentasiloxane/cylomethicone).

I believe you don't need to get this cone out of your hair completely every time you wash - that goes for all cones IMHO. That would be highly drying to the hair (you wouldn't wash off other conditioner residue every wash because then the shampoo would really dry out your hair, and I firmly believe this also goes for cone-y condishes). Instead, just controlling buildup (i.e., washing a little bit off every time before applying a conditioner again) should be more than enough. Of course, as we are all different, YMMV, so take my words with a grain of salt.

Also, this cone should evaporate at least partly from your hair, so in theory, this should also keep it from building up. Though, one word of caution here, it might be that this evaporation effect causes the hair to feel temporarily drier than usual for some people.

Personally, I have used this cone from time to time, and sometimes it worked better than anything else, then again, it caused my hair to feel dry (which I believe was due to evaporation). Dunno why that is and if the cone or something else was to blame . I am kinda undecided about what to think about it.

Hm, speaking of cyclopentasiloxane, somehow this thread reminds me that I might want to try the Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Conditioner in the future .
