Re: Veronique's Adventures in Hair Care

Alright! This entry is going to be called 60 Second Updo, also known as the "MacGyver" because a 10 year old girl I was watching showed me how to do it in under a minute, and she only used a rubber band, and an old gym sock...kids!

Here we go!

What you will need:

1. One ouchless rubber band in a color similar to your own hair color
2. 1-2 sock(s) with the toe(s) cut out and rolled into a ring
3. Hair toy decorations (optional)

Step 1:

Gather all of your hair into a pony tail...like so:

Step 2:

Put your hair through the rolled up sock (or any other such shaped object you may have in your hair toy collection) like so:

Step 3:

lean your head forward and begin to spread your hair so that it covers the entire sock, like so:

Step 4:

Once you are confident that the sock ring is covered take your rubber band and slip it over the hair covered sock ring. Sometimes I just use a regular size band so that it's pretty tight, or I buy some of those extra long ouchless thick bands made especially for thick hair. That way I can wrap it twice and make it really tight. Heres a pic:

Step 5:

Well, now you're done. Just tilt your head up, and pull the hair thats on top down a bit towards the sides, and if you want add a couple hair toys to accentuate the bun.

Final Results:

This pic is what it looks like when you do all your hair and I added three little hair combs:

And heres a pic I took today of when you only do half your hair. You do it the exact same way, except instead of gathering all your hair into the sock ring, you add only the top half:

And there it is. A quick, neat little updo that takes no time and looks pretty cool (IMHO anyway .) It's good for BSL hair, and the little girl who showed it to me used it on her waist length 2a/2b hair and it was very pretty. It's quite good I think for wavy/curlys since the hair falls out in waves and curls.

Thanks for reading!!
