Hi, I've already posted a few times but I thought I'd formally introduce myself since I'm able to post pics now.
I've been exploring long hair disussion groups for about 3 months and have started taking much better care of my hair.

Your hair looks great. I think you and me are at about the same spot. I'm 29.5 inches on 5' 11"
I agree with you that that is a great updo. Very pretty. Did you have that done by a pro, a friend, or yourself? What color is your hair? In the picture it looks like it might be close to mine but that could be the lighting. I'm a medium /ash brown that was yellow blonde as a kid. You can see a pic of me if you click my journal link below.

Are you growing out from a short style or something longer?

Last question for now, I promise. Did you trim your own hair?

PurpleBubba: The updo was done at a salon. I was pretty nervous that the stylist was going to do something wacky but she was very nice and knew what she was doing. She twisted the hair like a french twist and curled the ends, then pinned the curls to stay in place.
My hair is medium brown I guess. It looks similar to your color PurpleBubba. In the sun it has some really red shine to it but in normal light it looks brown. For some reason the ends of my hair turn a lighter reddish color as they get older.
I'm almost at 30" now and I've been growing from a chin bob I had cut about 5 years ago. I just got sick of in-between styles and haven't had it professionally cut since then. My mom trims my hair for me about every 6 months or so.
I really like this board. Everyone seems really friendly and supportive. I probably visit too much when I should be working! :blushing:

It was done a while ago at a salon but I'll describe it the best I can remember.
My hair was washed that day but dry when it was styled. The stylist started what felt like a french twist at the nape and pinned it tight (she said the secret was to make sure to get scalp hairs when you pin) and left the long ends hanging out on top. I guess you could either curl before you twist or after, but when the ends were curly she coiled them a bit and pinned them down to the other curls so it looked more like a poof of curls rather than long strands. I've never tried it on myself so I don't know how hard it is. There was a ton of hairspray involved too which is something I hate but it was for a wedding so one day of spray isn't that bad.

I made the avatar in Freehand. I had my mom take a pic of me holding my cat and I used it to make the outlines for the drawing and added some funky colors. My cat's name is Boy. I'll post some pics of him in the pet forum...
BTW I like the name "Rousseau"! :D

That's so cool! I really like the technique. I've never used that porgram I'll have to check it out, that's totally my kind of thing.
Rousseau is named after Henri Rousseau the painter.
Cant' wait to see pics of your cat!

I think we might be hair twins. I'm at 29.5 after my trim the other night and you say you are 1cMii, I'm 2aF-Mii
But I could be 1c.
That kinda confuses me cuz 1c and 2a are just about the same. I chose 2a because my hair was never straight but it was curlier when I was younger so I chose the one closer to curly. I love the board too. They've really helped me to remember who I am and want to be. I'm not the bum who sat on his butt for 3 years. I'm the one who drove his car to 23 states in 3 years and flew to 1 other and driven to another on that trip. I'm the one who is enjoying his life and freedom and not sitting doing nothing. I'm the one who is trying to do what I was meant to do. Help the world find some peace. I have always believed that I was put on this Earth for a reason and it would involve making a difference. Helping people with hair care might not seem like solving the world's problems but if it makes people happy then the rest will happen on its own. :)
