:wethree: I was motivate to take some pictures at work. Would you care to see some victims? (Picture's can be clicked to enlarge).

http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/cheech_bath_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/cheech_bath.jpg) http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/major_bath_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/major_bath.jpg)

Cheech is on the left, and Major is on the right. Cheech is a chow/lab mix, and she is mine. Major is a large standard poodle, and he belongs to one of our groomers.

http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/major_cheech_bath_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/major_cheech_bath.jpg)

Both victims, err clients, in the tub. They are both soaking in shampoo, as they were verrrrrrrrrrrry dirty.

http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/b_side_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/b_side.jpg) http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/f_cheech_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/f_cheech.jpg)

This is Cheech before the bath (left) and after the bath and trimming (right).

http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/f_major2_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/f_major2.jpg) http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/f_major_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/f_major.jpg)

This is Major after his cut. He is on the "thick" side at 90lbs, and he gets cut short.

Continued in next post.

*This is Charlie, another standard poodle. She belongs to the same groomer that has Major. This picture is before anything is done.

http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/half_charlie_small.jpg (http://www.scorpsweb.com/images/us/half_charlie.jpg)

*This is Charlie half cut. She is getting cut short, and will have poms on the ankles. I erased the picture of her when she was finished by mistake.

*This is Sidney before (left) and after (right). She is a shih tzu/peke mix and belongs to Janet (the one with Major and Charlie).
.
*I had more pictures but I erased them by accident. I am going to try and remember to bring my camera to work tomorrow or thursday and see if I can get more pictures. I had a picture of Cheech working hard (read hardly working) in her usual place, right under the desk. Cheech comes to work on Monday's and Thursday's , she's gotta earn some pay somehow :D. There was only one groomer working today, so we had time to do our own dogs. We've got two groomers tomorrow, so we'll have more dogs. If I have time, I'll snap some pics. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Awww, I love the pictures, Scorpeo! What a bunch of cutie-pies! That seems like a really fun job, I'll bet you enjoy it a lot, huh?

The dogs all look so docile...do you ever get any that you are afraid might bite? I can only imagine someone trying to groom my chihuahua. :scared: They would surely lose a finger. :shake:

Looking forward to more pictures! ;)

ooh, just the person i wanted to talk to!

i have a persian cat. he gets groomed every couple of months. my question is: how the h*ll do you do it? when ever we try to bathe him, he goes nuts. and how do you dry them? he hates to be blown dry, and it takes HOURS for him to air dry.

WHAT'S YOUR SECRET?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm really close to talking to the people at the groomer to find out what they do, but i don't know if they'd tell me.

:hollie: Oy!!! Keep 'em coming pleeeeeeezzzzzzze - I love to see the brats getting tortured in this way. That would be partly because Girl Dog manages to roll in something disgusting almost every single day and my only joy is to get even  ...g

What great pictures!

My number one most favorite thing about my dog is that she has extremely short hair and doesn't smell. In fact, she smells more if we bathe her. So I never do :hollie:

But I sure enjoy seeing other mutts suffer

oooh Lexy what kind of dog is that? I hate hate hate dog smell...in high school I had a friend who had dog. You didn't even have to see him come into the room, you would smell him...ick.

Since bf is insistent upon the fact that we have a dog when we get married (I'm still trying to explain to him that if I want no dogs and he wants two dogs, that an acceptable compromise is ONE dog, not two dogs), I'd like to have a nonsmelly one, or that thing is taking a shower as often as I do...

Not that I don't like dogs; I love them. But I'm more of a cat person. I'd prefer a pet who will sit quietly on my lap and purr or lie on the floor and purr, and not necessarily care if I don't pay them attention or am not home all day, not some big galumph who will be running around all the time and barking and slobbering and having to go outside to pee and demanding attention and developing separation anxiety when we go to work and therefore destroying the furniture...

Kat- I am a cat person too. I got this dog to be my running companion, and it was just a happy accident that she's so low maintenance. She's an American Foxhound. They're really really hard to find. I guess they're not very trendy, but I don't understand why everyone wouldn't want one. Turns out she's the only dog I've ever liked.

You need a Keeshond or perhaps a Tibetan Terrier. They are still not cats but it's about as close as you are going to get  .

BTW - the dog smell thing is easily remedies by more frequent washing - yea, I know about it being activitated when wet but that's because they haven't been cleaned regularly, you have to get ahead of the smelly curve. One reason dogs don't stink as badly as we do is because they have no sweat glands except for feet and nose (some breed exceptions), but the accumulation of dander and oil can get really rancid - therefore TA Da - Grooming ...g

What a pretty girl! I can see me having one of those...

How often can you wash a dog without it being bad for them? Is once a week too often?

How do you get the dogs on the tables and/or tubs? Do you have stairs or lifts? Of do you have to LIFT those things! <ugh>

Great pictures. Thanks for posting them! :)

No - it's perfectly fine as long as you use milder shampoos and the biggest deal is to rinse out all the soap - we use a conditioner  it really gets out the tangles and the soap plus keeps the skin which is very delicate from overdrying ...g

:hatchet: no, j/k. I can tell you how WE do it, but each shop might do it differently.

First, we do the trimming (potty patch or poop shoot, any matts, and the nails). If you get your cat shaved, we shave them first.
Second, bath time. We have those cheap all nylon leashes ... we loop it so that it turns into a kind of harness.

The leashes are long enough so they can move around the tub and put their front paws on the front of the tub, but not long enough that they can get out. I gotta get a wet cat pic, those are priceless <evil grin>.

We have dryers that the pets get into. They look like a cage, but have a motor ... like this:
http://www.petedge.com/images/us/local/products/family_detail/ed510_f.jpgPicture from petedge.com

They dry pretty quickly, and most just curl up and sleep. It's temperature and time controlled, and it's not that loud.

After, we just brush and comb them out, put a bandanna or bow on, and out they go.

Most cats do fine in the tub; cats usually get p*ssed off when combing and brushing. I've had to help hold peeved cats, and I have the scratches to prove it. I usually will scruff the cat, and then the groomer will do the combing or brushing.

Most of the time I enjoy the job, lol.

Those dogs are docile because they know the drill, they belong to us and get stuff done rather often. We've got muzzles for those who feel the need to bite. Pets that are scared are one thing, but those that just don't want something done, and will bite to prevent it ... get muzzled.

Just use good quality pet shampoo's and conditioners and you will be fine. We've got a few dogs on weekly schedules, and we just use conditioning S & C's and sometime's we use the leave-in's. It depend's on the breed of dog, type of coat, etc.

Remember to rinse, rinse, rinse and .... rinse again. Shampoo residue is a big itch factor.

If you look at the pictures of the tubs, you'll see the doors and ramps. We've got 3 raised tubs, two with ramps and doors, and one floor tub (like your bathroom tub). The big ones walk up the ramp into the tub, and the small one's we just lift in. Sometimes we have to get IN the tub and pull, and some else pushes from behind, but we DO get them in the tub.

We've also got two hydrolic tables and one electric table that raise and lower. The table with the grey top that Cheech was standing on ... was a hydrolic table. It lowers to about knee level, the electric table lowers slightly more. They can just hop up on the table.

We have lifted some, can look pretty funny sometimes.

not necessarily care if I don't pay them attention or am not home all day

Actually, from what I understand, two dogs would be better for this. They keep each other company and don't need quite as much attention from you because they get it from each other. Also, houses with dogs don't get broken into nearly as often as those without.
